Sept 3 -- First Day of School
WEB Sixth Grade Orientation -- Aug 29 7:45 am - 12:00 pm
Hello!
We are very excited that your child will be attending Lane Intermediate School and
we look forward to meeting your student on Orientation Day. You may not know with it being only the second year, but our school participates in the nationwide Where Everyone Belongs, WEB, Program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help sixth graders feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of middle school.
The WEB sixth grade orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome
and support sixth graders by assigning them an 8th grade WEB Leader as a mentor
during this first year. This WEB Leader is a responsible 8th grader who was hand
selected from a pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a
good role model and a positive leader on our campus.
Following is some information to let you know what you and your student can expect in advance of their first day of school.
1) Please have your Patriot join us at Lane on August 29th from 7:45-12:00;
2) A day or two before orientation your child will also receive a phone call from their WEB Leader personally inviting your child to orientation day and giving the details of where to be and what time;
3) Your child is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as
the day is quite active;
4) Because the day is active, please make sure that your child wears comfortable
clothing that does not restrict movement.
This is a student only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on their own.
We look forward to meeting you and your student on orientation day!

Principal's Message
As I welcome students and families at forms and fees, I am constantly reminded how fortunate we are to have a supportive community. I am looking forward to continuing our work with the same leadership team Mr. Hammernik, assistant principal, Kari Skonecki, Deeper Learning Coach, and myself, as the principal of Lane. I am truly proud to be the principal of Lane.
Since our building has grown in enrollment, I am happy to share that we will have 4, six grade teams of two teachers. Each teacher will teach either math/science or BL/ social studies. In 7th grade and 8th grade we will have 3 teams. Lane will continue to offer a Global house that follows our Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum as well as incorporating the United Nations Global Goals. In addition, we continue to grow deeper learning competencies within our work at Lane. Our school district is an exciting place to be as we support staff in growing their practice.
This summer staff attended national and local conferences to support their learning. Staff participated in book studies as well as bootcamps offered at the West Allis School District. In addition, we attended safety and mental health workshops to support the work of an awarded grant.
We are looking forward to having staff and students back in the halls at Lane.
