Now Accepting Nominations for Volunteer of the Year

Nomination Due: Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 5:00 PM

The University Volunteer of the Year Selection Committee is accepting applications for the California State University, Fresno Student Volunteer of the Year Award. Nominations must be received by Wednesday, March 25th, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in order to be considered. Anyone can nominate a Fresno State student for this award. Self-nominations are also accepted.

The University Student Volunteer of the Year Award honors Fresno State students who have made a difference in our community through exceptional gifts of their time and talent. Simply nominating a student affirms and celebrates their efforts to improve the quality of life for all of us in Central California.

Help Build a Healthier Fresno State

Applications Due: Friday, March 27 at 4:45 PM

The Student Health and Counseling Center is currently recruiting for new volunteers for Health Promotion and Wellness Services (Health PAWS). Each volunteer experience is designed to provide Fresno State students with an opportunity to help build a healthier Fresno State. Peer groups include:

  • Drug & Alcohol Awareness & Wellness Guides (DAAWG): Promoting safe decision-making regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
  • Peer Ambassadors of Wellness (PAW): Offering a hands-on experience promoting the mental and physical health of Fresno State students.

5th Annual Walk for Autism

The Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, a Professional Business Fraternity at Fresno State, invite you to join them in raising awareness about autism at the 5th Annual Walk for Autism.

This student-led event will be held at Woodward Park on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Please visit for more information. This year, students in a student organization can register at a discounted rate. Simply use the code "IMASTUDENT" at checkout and the registration fee will only be $10.00 before March 25 and $15 after that time. Registration as a group can result in greater savings!

Spend the Summer in Yosemite

Yosemite Conservancy is recruiting Visitor Information Assistants for this summer. Volunteers will spend a month helping visitors enjoy Yosemite's natural, cultural, and educational activities in various locations throughout the park. All volunteers will receive online and on site training. Additionally, volunteers will have free entrance to the park; camping in shared campsites in Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, Hodgdon or Wawona campgrounds; a 30 percent discount on books and educational materials at the Yosemite Conservancy bookstores; and discounts from the park concessionaire in various park locations. Most volunteers work 30 hours per week, with time off to enjoy the park.

Volunteers will plant trees and shrubs, paint buildings, level out sand, and seed the soccer and baseball fields. Light refreshments will be provided in the morning and lunch will be provided in the afternoon.

This annual event his held at the San Joaquin Wine Co. in Madera and The Sun Mountain Gun Club in Coarsegold. Volunteers are needed on Friday, April 17th to assist with event set-up (at both locations) and event support during the kick-off dinner and auction at the site in Madera. Volunteers on Saturday, at the site in Coarsegold, will assist with the tournament, including registration, assisting participants, and clean-up.

Centennial Home Tour Volunteers

The Centennial Home Tours will feature four Fresno homes that are 100 years old this year. Volunteers will work in teams at one of the homes and be provided with information about the house, and will be stationed at doors to welcome guests and assist them.

Dates: ongoing commitment ending in late May 2015 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM

The Freewheel Project blends action sports, academic achievement, leadership development and more into one learning and developmental experience for youth. Volunteer academic mentors are needed to work with middle school students at Sequoia Middle School in southeast Fresno.

Volunteers must commit to serving through the end of May, pass a background check, and have general competence in elementary/middle school math, English, and history. Bilingual ability (Spanish-English) is preferred but not required.

Internship Program for Diversity in Rural Nonprofit Housing and Community Development

Interns in this program are placed at nonprofit housing developers and service providers serving a dire need for habitable affordable housing. Students will learn about what it takes to build affordable housing and strong communities in underserved, diverse, rural and emerging areas by using technical, qualitative, and business skills in working for social change.
