Church Volunteer Network
Spring Newsletter 2018
Spreading the Good News throughout Sacramento
Great things have been happening in the Sacramento Region and Church Volunteer Network is honored to be a part of this community! This Summer, CVN hosted our fourth Summer Internship for young adults interested in growing in their experience of service Jesus by serving vulnerable populations. Three amazing young adults spent two months serving refugees, children, and their families at Powerhouse Ministries the Arab American Learning Center, and New Hope Community Development Corporation. The interns also met weekly with CVN leadership to learn about serving others like Jesus through studying the gospels. THANK YOU (from left to right below) Chelsea Brown, Hope Luna and Jonathan Joe for living for others this Summer and growing in Christlike service!
Gospel Project Support Fund Reports
Church Volunteer Network is also honored to have supported three ministries this year in gospel sharing events in the Folsom, Arden Arcade and Oak Park Communities. Below are two of these outreach reports.
Powerhouse Ministries Easter Celebration
Hope was alive at Powerhouse Ministries on Easter! They started the evening with a beautiful family style meal. The room was packed with close to 150 people, including 22 kids. As they gathered for worship the atmosphere was powerful. There were both tears and celebration. Nancy shared about the power of resurrection and second chances. There was a beautiful video testimony of people within our community who have experienced life transformation from brokenness into thriving.

New Creation Church Block Party
New Creation Church’s annual Block Party was a blast! New Creation Church in Arden Arcade was able to bring the grills out and feed the community in food and spirit. The event hosted various entertainers, such as praise dancers, worship teams, poets, and gospel hip hop artists that ministered to the community.

Jessup Students Wash the Feet of the Homeless
Last weekend, a group of students from William Jessup University partnered with Church Volunteer Network to love the homeless community in Downtown Sacramento by washing the feet of the homeless and giving out toiletry items. I can’t think of a better way to act and serve others like Christ. This was just one of many service projects done by students for their annual Serve Day. Thank you Jessup for training the next generation in the servanthood of Christ!
