Mykee Fowlin Parent Assembly

Parents are encouraged to attend the Mykee Fowlin show on December 8th at 7pm in the BHS theater. In his one-man presentation, "You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me," Dr. Mykee Fowlin takes the audience on an experiential journey, having them reexamine core precepts that were taught to us from as early on as 1st grade. He uses many of his gifts – humor, performance art, poetry, storytelling, psychology, theatrical monologues, and his personal journey – to create a moving experience for all who are open to this evolution. He encourages all age groups, from pre-teens to adults alike: “We are capable of transforming the world, for the good, but this work starts from within; it is the process of turning our hurt into self-reflection, healing, and then action. It is our simple, but intentional, behaviors where significant change takes place.

November Teacher Lesson of the Month

Every month RMS students have the opportunity to celebrate a teacher that put together a lesson that they loved! Our teachers have been working extremely hard to engage students. The TLOM is meant to celebrate the amazing lessons our teachers create and promote engagement in our classes.

Our November TLOM is awarded to Ms. Cavagnaro, an 8th grade ELA teacher. The lesson was called, "Blackout Poetry" and the student who nominated this lesson said, “I liked the new approach to making poems, it felt refreshing and new. We would find an article, in this case one about Native Americans, and start to circle sentences that could explain the story the best. We then would limit ourselves to only 25 words and we would blackout all of the other words and sentences. After we finished we put our poems on the wall and read them out loud. I also appreciated that it celebrated Native Americans and connected to Thanksgiving..” Check out the bulletin board outside the main office!

NEW Morning News Show: "AM Rombout 2.0"

We are very excited to announce the creation of a NEW morning news show that will air on the NEW Rombout Morning News YouTube Channel! Parents who attended Rombout as students may remember the TV production studio we once had. Rombout was ahead of its time when retired teacher Mr. Glassey and current teacher Ms. Laderach produced "AM Rombout." Fun fact: Ms. Biordi was the AM Rombout Weather Woman in the early 2000s! We are thrilled to be bringing the show back with a modern twist! Students will watch the news show in their homerooms each day. Parents can catch up on all the RMS happenings by viewing the morning show on the RMS website. Over the next two weeks we will be organizing a cast of students to participate. We encourage students who may be interested in studying communications/media studies in the future to get involved. Interested students should see Ms. D'Ottavio in the library for a permission slip!

Reindeer Games

Student Council is planning a winter themed pep rally on December 22nd! There will be an altered bell schedule on this day. Student Council is looking for students and teachers to participate in the pep rally games. If you are interested in signing up, please see Ms. Tobin or Ms. Benson.
