News You Can Use

Be Kind to Our Neighbors

The staff at the ELC have asked that our parents take extra care and drive slowly through their parking lot.

Further, we have been asked to communicate that pick up and drop off at Pershing Court and Peterson Court are not allowed. These are the entrances to the small subdivision right around the corner off of South Grove Avenue. Please utilize the school for these procedures.

Communicating with Your Student During the School Day

In order to provide the best learning environment possible, we ask that students' cell phones are turned off and in their lockers throughout the school day. However, we understand that there may be times when parents wish to communicate with their students, and we have multiple ways in which this can be accomplished.

You can send your student a message via the Schoology messaging platform. For help setting up your parent Schoology account, please click here. You can also reach out to our Library Technology Assistants at: 847-756-2660.

Students also have school-issued email accounts. Their addresses are set up thus: username@bsd220.org. Usernames are typically in the first initial, last name format. Your student should be able to share their username with you.

Alternatively, you can call the main office at: 847-304-3990 and we can pass the message along.

Let's Talk!

We want you to feel comfortable asking your questions.

This guidebook serves as a resource for you to get answers. You can always contact us at Prairie at 847.304.3990. The District Communications Office can provide additional assistance at 847.842.3543.

6th Grade Party on the Prairie

All 6th graders are welcome to stay after school on Friday, September 15th until 5pm (activity buses will be available). The PTO will be hosting a “Welcome to Prairie Party.” Music, games, snacks and hanging with classmates will be on the agenda. Registration is not required.

Volunteers and donations are needed to make this a success. Please sign up if you are able to assist.

See Something, Say Something

Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns. In the case of an emergency, call 911. Please be aware that when a Safe2Help report is made which references Suicide, Self-Harm or School Safety building staff and/or local authorities will be contacted.

Safety 220

During an emergency situation at one of our schools, it is important for our community to work together. Barrington 220 has developed this tip sheet for parents/guardians, which shares specific actions parents/guardians should take in the event of an emergency.
