GORGEOUS GERBERAS & MORE!
ROTORUA 12 NOV
PLENTYFLORA
Harald earned his horticultural degree in Holland and built up work experience at the Research Centre for Flowers in Aalsmeer (Holland) and the breeding company Terra Nigra (De Kwakel in Holland). Terra Nigra is a global player in cut flower Gerbera and Rose breeding. For 10 years Harald was leading the Research and Breeding team at Terra Nigra. In that period Terra Nigra developed the Mini gerbera, which has a longer vase-life (average 30% longer), is easier to combine with other flowers and has multiple purposes in use.
In 1995, Connie & Harald moved from the Netherlands to New Zealand and settled in Rotorua.
We will have a guided tour & you will have a chance to ask questions & upskill your gerbera-growing abilities!
Arts Village Cafe
We will return to Rotorua &, if you wish, you can lunch at the Arts Village Cafe.
Sharing a space with the Arts Village means even though this spot serves coffee and food, it is also a show-off point for local artists who can put their pieces on the walls here. What’s better than perusing some new art from the comfort of your favourite café after all?
For those who would prefer to take a picnic, the Government Gardens are in very close proximity.
Christmas Magic Makers
En route for home we will visit the former Aberdeen House, Te Puke's "Christmas Wonderland" - a chance to get presents & to update your decorations.
Angela Thompson & her husband did a lot of out-door grotto Xmas decorating in Auckland &, when they shifted to Te Puke decided to do something similar in their house, as a good way to get to know people. It was so appreciated that they decided to open the Aberdeen Christmas Shed. It has been a tremendous success, even though they have had to fend off competition from bigger shops.
"It's so much easier for them to go to KMart, Farmers & The Warehouse, so I want to create something a bit more special here... A lot more Kiwiana, which is important, especially for travellers."
Every shop alcove Is themed. eg. A Nutcracker Alcove, A Santa Alcove, A Lemax Display that Stands 8 Feet High on three levels, scores of santas and elves and so much more! It Is a visual extravaganza.
