Need to Know!!!
Welcome Back!!! I hope everyone is excited and ready to go for students in Monday!!! Rooms are starting to take shape and looking inviting. Continue to think "student first" in your design and create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Remember, the environment you create dictates the learning you get! Check out the article below about setting the classroom environment.
Above you see the 6-5-10 goals for the year. Please learn and know these...as this is what will drive decision making by our Leadership Team. We will be having more discussion about these and how you will contribute to meeting these goals during PLC's.
Speaking of Leadership Team...and other committees. Please meet with your grade level/department teams to complete the 2017-18 Wendell Phillips Committee Google Form, found by clicking 2017-18 WENDELL PHILLIPS COMMITTEE MEMBERS button below. The committees and expectations are found in the Staff Handbook under the Operations tab.
Also, all staff need to complete a 2017-18 Staff Contact Google Form- it can be found by clicking the 2017-18 WENDELL PHILLIPS STAFF CONTACT FORM button below.
July 27th will be our Smekens PD/Staff Meeting Day. The day will be split into two sessions. Session 1, from 9:00-12:00 will have K-2 Teachers in the Media Center for Writer's Workshop Training, while 3-7 Teachers will be in Room 233 (change!) for our opening staff meeting. Session 2, from 1:00-4:00, will have teachers switch their sessions. The link to the Staff Handbook is below in the RESOURCES section; begin to preview the handbook to make our discussion a little more interactive! Please bring your laptop to each meeting.
Classroom libraries and Math Materials will be delivered to classrooms by Wednesday afternoon. The classroom libraries are assigned to specific classrooms, so the materials need to be labeled, which will be provided to you. Please have them marked with these labels as soon as possible. Also, we have learned that some items are on backorder and will be arriving later. Please see your respective grade level MCL for information about this great resource!!
The first week can be very busy....and that is an understatement!!! To ease this, we have created a document to help you navigate the first week. Please click on the WEEK ONE NEED TO KNOWS button below to help with this.
Lesson plans are due into the shared Google Drive folder each Monday by 9:00 am. Click on the LESSON PLANS- WEEK JULY 31 button below to access the folder. You must be logged into your IPS Google account, which are your normal IPS credentials. If you have questions about this, Ms. Souza, 5-7 MCL (and Google Educator!) is having a help session on Friday morning @ 9:00 am. Please let her know if you would like to learn!!!
