NEW! Horizon Bank Minority Scholarship
Horizon Bank is excited to offer the Minority Scholarship Program. This scholarship is designed to encourage minorities to pursue a higher education while assisting to fund such an endeavor. We encourage all students meeting the outlined criteria to apply. This scholarship will be awarded to recognize academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and future potential. It is not MANDATORY that the student major in banking or a closely related field, but consideration will be given, based on the content of the essay and eligibility requirements. Five (5) non-renewable scholarships will be awarded for $1000 each.

NEW! Jim and Betty Dye Scholarship
The James W. and Betty Dye Foundation was established to provide scholarships for qualified high school seniors at participating high schools in Northwest Indiana. Jim and Betty Dye Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors to recognize academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and future potential.
The Foundation believes a better educated population will enhance the quality of life for all its citizens. The goals and ideals of the Foundation will be realized if those who benefited from the Jim and Betty Dye Scholarship program live and work in Northwest Indiana following graduation from college.
Eligibility
Any senior from the participating Indiana high schools in Lake, Newton, Porter, and Jasper Counties who satisfies the following criteria is eligible to apply for a Jim and Betty Dye Scholarship.
Applicants that do not meet the minimum eligibility will not be considered.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must live in Lake, Newton, Porter, or Jasper County, Indiana.
- Must be a current senior at a participating high school in Lake, Newton, Porter, or Jasper County, Indiana.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0).
- Although test scores are optional, additional consideration will be given to applicants submitting a minimum composite 1200 SAT / 25 ACT or greater.
- Must be admitted unconditionally as a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student to one of the following universities:
- Indiana University Bloomington (IU)
- Indiana University Northwest (IUN)
- Purdue University West Lafayette (PU)
- Purdue University Northwest (PNW)
- Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
- Ball State University Muncie (BSU)

Eligible candidates must electronically submit the Scholarship application no later than 11:59 p.m. CT on March 1st. Supporting documentation consisting of an official high school transcript and the university admission acceptance must be included with the application. IMPORTANT – Do not use a high school affiliated email to create an account, to log-in, or as a contact email. Applications containing a high school affiliated email will be rejected.
The 2023 application will be available January 1, 2023 to March 1, 2023.
The Indiana Latino Institute - mulitple scholarships!
The Indiana Latino Institute has a partnership with 23 colleges and universities who will award up to 2 two full tuition scholarships to eligible Latino high school seniors who are accepted to their school and start August of 2023. They also must be a part of the Indiana Latino Institute's College Coaching Program. This is a free service. We can help your Latino students prepare for college applications and graduation.

Burger King Scholars Program
Who is eligible to apply? All Company and participating Franchise restaurant, corporate and field employees, spouses or domestic partners of employees, and dependent children of employees are eligible. All high school seniors, regardless of whether or not they or their parent/guardian is employed at BURGER KING®, are also eligible to apply. Click here for specific eligibility criteria.
Q. What are the details of the award?
BURGER KING℠ Scholars awards are awarded each year.
The number of awards will be determined by the funds available and the number of applicants.
Most scholarships are non-renewable awards of up to $1,000. Awards cannot exceed educational costs.
The scholarships can be applied to tuition, fees or books required for course load at accredited, two- or four-year colleges/universities in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico (Note: Employees and employees' spouses or domestic partners may use awards to take enrichment courses at accredited institutions).
A student may transfer from one institution to another within their award year and retain the award provided the institution and their enrollment fulfill eligibility criteria.
Q. Is there a deadline date for submitting applications? Yes, the application period is from October 15, 2022, through December 15, 2022. However, application submissions will be capped at 50,000. If the cap is reached prior to the deadline, the application will no longer be available. After submission and the deadline date, students will continue to have access to their portal to view their submission, receive status updates and update profile information, but no changes or additions can be made to the application.

Our First Amendment Freedoms Art & Essay Contest (open to grades 6-12)
ADL Midwest invites 6th – 12th grade students in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota to participate in the 2021 First Amendment Freedoms Art & Essay Contest! First Place winners in each grade category will receive a $5,000 scholarship. Second Place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Plus, the teacher with the most entries will receive $1,000!

Please clearly label your entry with name, school, and city on a cover sheet or in the upper right or left-hand corner of the work. No identifying student information should be found within the body of the essay or within the artwork and its one paragraph description; art entries without a description will be disqualified. Students should reside in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, or Wisconsin at the time of submission. Only one entry per student per year.

Tricia's Scholarship
Applicant Guidelines:
1. Must be a resident of Northwest Indiana.
2. Must be able to provide evidence of application to or current enrollment in a nursing education program to be considered for aid.
3. In general, is not seeking a Masters, Doctorate or Nurse Practitioner degree and/or is not graduating within the year.
4. Must submit the completed application, including self appraisal and letters of reference, by the stated deadline to be considered by the Scholarship Committee.

Ronald Reasgan Foundation Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must
- Demonstrate the attributes of leadership, integrity, drive, and citizenship within their communities, schools, and workplaces
- Display strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent)
- Be citizens of the United States of America
- Be current high school seniors attending high school within the United States, (including any U.S. territories or commonwealths), and graduating in winter 2022 or spring 2023. Applicants living on a U.S. Armed Forces base and attending high school outside the U.S. are eligible.
- Plan to enroll in a full‑time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four‑year college or university in the United States for the entire 2023-2024 academic school year

Ron Brown Scholarship Program
The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans.
RBSP competitively awards 45 – 50 four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth.
Recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. Since the Program’s inception in 1996, more than 450 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars.
Applicants for the Ron Brown Scholarship MUST be Black/African American, US citizens or permanent residents, and a current high school senior at the time of their application.
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for the Ron Brown Scholar Program provided you meet the following requirements:

APIA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
APIA SCHOLARS MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR 2023-2024 ACADEMIC YEAR:
- Be able to describe your ethnicity, heritage, or ancestry in relation to the countries, territories, or lands in Asia or the Pacific Islands
- Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply
- Be enrolling or continuing as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in a U.S. accredited college or university in Fall 2023
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted), or equivalent, or have earned a GED
- Must apply for federal financial aid for the 2023-2024 academic year using the Free Application for the Federal Student Aid (FASFA) by early April 2023
HOW TO APPLY:
The APIA Scholarship Program application must be completed online and submitted electronically once all the required questions have been answered. You do not have to complete the online application in one sitting. However, once an application is submitted, you are not able to edit it.
The Recommender deadline is one week earlier: January 12, 2023, at 5PM Eastern.

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides 200 high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be an Indiana resident;
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen;
- Must be a current high school senior or college student in Indiana;
- Must have graduated or will graduate from an Indiana accredited high school or non-accredited nonpublic high school;
- Must be able to utilize the scholarship for at least two full academic years;
- Must meet one of the three Academic Requirements:
- Rank in the top 20% of high school graduating class; or
- Have a top 20% ACT or SAT score; or
- Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale;
- Must currently attend or plan to attend an Eligible Indiana Institution as a full-time student;
- In some cases, degree-seeking students may use the scholarship during the summer while enrolled part-time. Refer to the specific guidelines for using the scholarship during summer terms.
- Must pursue or intend to pursue a course of study that would enable the student to teach at an eligible Indiana school after college graduation;
- Must obtain a license to teach in Indiana and serve as a teacher in an Eligible Indiana School for five consecutive years after college graduation;
- Must maintain a 3.0/4.0 GPA, complete 30 credit hours per year or their equivalent and meet all other requirements established by their program to renew the scholarship;
- Must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year;
- Must not be in overpayment or default on a federal student loan or grant; and
- Must complete the service requirement or have all funds provided converted to a loan that must be repaid.
**Priority will be given to students graduating high school although current college freshmen and sophomore students are eligible to apply.

Obral Silk & Pal Scholarship
At Obral, Silk & Pal, we have seen firsthand the devastation that an unexpected injury can have on individuals, families, and even entire communities. All too often, these injuries are caused in accidents that are entirely avoidable.
Auto collisions, in particular, are a leading cause of accidental injury in the United States. Motor-vehicle wrecks are responsible for more than 30,000 deaths each year.
Our goal at Obral, Silk & Pal not only is to help the injured, but also to do what we can to prevent these accidents from happening in the first place. With that in mind, we have opened an essay scholarship contest with topics that pertain to car accident avoidance.
The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. To apply, please send your résumé, contact details, proof of school attendance or acceptance, and your scholarship essay entry to apal@216lawyers.com.
The scholarship must be at least 750 words and cover one of these topics:
- How to discourage friends or loved ones from driving while intoxicated.

Kids Chance of Indiana
1. To begin the application process the student or the parent or guardian should open up the scholarship application (below). Hopefully, the process of filling out the application is is easy and all information requested is available to you. The determination of the amount of your scholarship is primarily based upon the financial needs of the student. Therefore the information concerning finances is extremely important and should be filled out in its entirety. It is also important that you provide information to us that you have attempted to seek the benefits of all federal grants, aids and loans.
2. Kids chance of Indiana has a special Scholarship Committee devoted to reviewing your application. One of the members of that committee will voluntarily spend the time necessary to make sure your application is in proper form and if necessary contact you for additional information. That individual is very important to the processing of your application and therefore please make sure you stay in contact with that individual.
3. Once the application is in final form, Kids Chance has developed a system whereby the approval of the application and the amount to be allocated to the scholarship is seamless and expeditious. From the time you have your application in final form to the time that you are informed of the amount of your scholarship, no more than 60 days should elapse, with some exceptions.
4. All scholarship funds are disbursed to the bursar’s office at your designated school.
5. In order to maintain your scholarship it is important that you maintain a satisfactory academic performance and send to your kids chance contact verification of class enrollment and your semester’s grade report. You must reapply every semester showing evidence of your continuation of an academic program and your recent past successes academically.

How to file the FAFSA
Students can file the FAFSA online at FAFSA.gov. The first step for students who have not previously filed the FAFSA is to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. Then, each student will need:
- Social Security number
- Alien Registration number (for non-U.S. citizens)
- Federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of money earned from 2021
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
The U.S. Department of Education provides email and live chat assistance for FAFSA filers as well as a helpline at 1-800-4-FED-AID. Hoosier families can also access free FAFSA help through INvestEd Indiana at www.investedindiana.org.
