The Lion's Roar
Gloucester High School - Newsletter- January 19, 2018
Partnership. Performance. Pride.
Hello Parents,
Our first morning of professional learning communities was successful on a number of levels. 13 of our staff members became certified users of one of our favorite instructional resources, a warehouse of interactive content aimed at bridging the gap between learning and mastery by the name of Albert. We started to introduce the Cornell Note-Taking strategies to all 9th grade academic teachers. Progress continued with our transition of moving all electronic materials "to the cloud." Our Junior class did an outstanding job on their SAT practice test and now have more than 60 days to dive into their personalized practice materials prior to taking the SAT during our school day on March 21st.
We are preparing to administer midterm exams next Tuesday through Friday. Students will be dismissed at 12:50 each of these days. Nearly all of these assessments will be taken on student devices. Students should make sure to have their device with them. Students without a device are sent with their unique test code to our Media Center to complete their midterm exam under the supervision of various staff members.
The video below exhibits the slight changes you can anticipate with student drop-off beginning Monday, January 29th. These changes are being made to maximize safety for all members of our school community.
Here's hoping that we're a couple of weeks away from getting ready to support the Eagles in Super Bowl LII...
In Partnership,
Sean Gorman
COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS
- College is usually more affordable than many families think as a result of the Financial Aid process. That being said, this process can also be daunting and/or confusing to families. It's valuable to have a comprehensive view of the process from the time your child is in 9th grade. Check out this checklist from College Board that offers families a guide to help you navigate the financial aid process and get the most money possible for college. Review it here.
