News from ODE
The ONLY item type that will no longer appear on the state assessments is the Constructed Response items where the students write/type in a justification using sentences.
Exceptions from this is the Writing component in the ELA assessments and, for a few high school students, the Physical Science assessment.
The Model Curriculum is expected to be approved by the Board at their February meeting.

CONGRATULATIONS Zachary Patterson!!!!
Congratulations to Zachary Patterson, math teacher at Dominion Middle School, who recently earned the designation of a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). Zachary earned this extremely high mark of achievement through a rigorous, performance-based, peer-review process. Great job Zack!
ALEKS Incentive
As students finish an ALEKS course, teachers can create a new class and enroll them in it. For instance, if a student finishes Math 6, the teacher can create a Math 7 course and enroll that student in it to allow him or her to get a head start on the new material. The teacher can then either unenroll the student from the original Math 6 class (no progress is lost) or leave the student in both classes.
