Monday Morning Motivation
Central Elementary Staff News----May 16--May 20
Dear Staff,
At last week's board meeting, three new staff members (Jessica Wilson (5), Diana Harris (5), and Lauren Richard (4) were hired for the 2016-17 school year. With all of the departures and arrivals, this means that four out of our six teams will look different next year. As much as we find change difficult, we must continue to move forward and grow together. This is not always an easy task.
This week, I can across the mini-lesson below and find it to be very pertinent and a great place to start.
Team members always love and admire a person who is able to help them go to another level, someone who enlarges them and empowers them to be successful.
Players who enlarge their teammates have several things in common:
- Enlargers value their teammates: People's performances usually reflect the expectations of those they respect.
- Enlargers know and relate to what their teammates value: Players who enlarge others understand what their teammates value. That kind of knowledge, along with a desire to relate to their fellow players, creates a strong connection between teammates.
- Enlargers add value to their teammates: An enlarger looks for the gifts, talents, and uniqueness in other people, and then helps them to increase those abilities for their benefit and for that of the entire team.
- Enlargers make themselves more valuable: You cannot give what you do not have. If you want to increase the ability of a teammate, make yourself better.

Announcements and Reminders
With 7 days of school left, we must be vigilant in our supervision. This means being on your spot outside your classroom door at 8:20, outside for recess duty, and even volunteering to go out extra if you can. Diana and I plan to be out more as well. Thank you for your attention to this.
All of the end-of-year forms are in your mailbox. Please complete and return to the correctly labeled purple folder on the workroom table. There are due dates on the papers themselves.
Please use the EOY STAR data for our cards. The window for STAR read and math data is open. We want the most up-to-date data for our students. Meetings to place students in classes will take place May 17th in the conference room. Please begin thinking about student placement.
Please submit your SLO data as soon as you are able. For those of you who have ISTEP data, please look at your targeted SLO and form a score from it.
Please note, after school on May 24th the Gym will be covered with plywood. After lunch on May 25th the boxes will begin being moved by high school athletic teams.

At last week's board meeting, Kelly Collins received approval to move forward with a pilot program, feeding Plainfield kids (18 and younger) five days/week this summer. The program receives federal funding from USDA. A lunch 'truck' will serve at Brentwood daily from 11-11:45, then at the library from 12:15 - 1. Lunches will be cold as we don't have the set-up, at this point, to serve hot foods properly.
We are a 4 STAR school! This was great embargoed news from Mr. Olinger.
