Message from the Principal
Whispering Pines Families,
I would like to first thank all of you for reading the weekly newsletter. It is a clear sign that you are working to stay informed and keep up to date with all of the things that impact your children, both the challenges and the successes. I hope you continue to use this communication and please reach out to me directly if you have additional questions. My goal is to be transparent and informative so you are aware and can make decision for your child(ren). Our process in the district is slightly different for notifying parents of COVID cases in the classroom than last year. When a child or a staff member tests positive the parent or staff member must report on the district website here. Once we are notified of a confirmed case, we complete the contact sheet and a letter goes home for that class that has been impacted. The student or staff member are required to remain off campus for 10 days from symptoms or positive test is asymptomatic and then can return when they have been fever free for 24 hours. Having staff out can be very challenging and we do our very best to cover those classes to insure that they are still receiving high quality instruction.
For students that are out due to COVID or parents have opted to keep their child out due to being a close contact, there is no negative impact on the student's attendance. They will not be penalized for being out with a parent note to our registrar Janette.Lopez@humbleisd.net. We will be working with teachers over the next week to get a bank of assignments posted to either Schoology 4-5 or SeeSaw K-3. Please be patient as we work to plan for both face to face and students that are continuing learning at home. It is so important that students who are out continue their learning. With all the challenges that this situation brings we must do everything we can collaboratively to address the gaps that are created when students are not in school. The very best thing that you can do to continue learning with your child is reading books at their level. Without the ability to read, no learning is accessible. READ READ READ READ. I can not say it enough.
We will continue to move forward with learning and giving students engaging experiences. While life will throw us challenges, we want our students to know that we will not stop learning and growing. Thank you for working with us to meet the needs of our students.
