D103 Learning Update
CDC Guidance: D103 is following the CDC guidelines regarding how to conduct in-person instruction. Guidelines include: universal and correct use of masks, physical distancing, handwashing and respiratory etiquette, cleaning and maintaining healthy facilities, and contact tracing in combination with isolation and quarantine in collaboration with the health department.
Vaccination of Staff: Vaccines have been taking place at Stevenson and Round Lake High schools. Almost 95 percent of staff has indicated that they will be vaccinated against COVID.
Travel Guidance: The CDC recommends against non essential travel. When people do travel the guidelines are to wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. For international travel there is a mandated COVID test three days prior to returning to the United States.
COVID Testing After Spring Break: The Board discussed the option of doing a COVID-19 RT-PCR test on all in-person learners and in-person staff on Monday, March 29, the day students are scheduled to return to school following spring break and again on April 5. COVID cases have the potential to increase after holiday breaks. Administration believes the test is an effective tool in helping to keep COVID positive cases out of the schools after spring break as well as to reduce the chance of an outbreak and the need to quarantine classrooms or a school.
Fall Planning: D103 administration has begun planning for learning in the fall. The administration surveyed parents regarding learning during the COVID pandemic and their interest in remote learning versus in-person learning for their children in the fall. The district is waiting on parent responses.
Metrics: Lake County metrics are improving weekly. To date, there has been no outbreak in Lake County schools.
Remote Conferences
The district is surveying staff and parents about their interest in continuing with remote conferences even after COVID restrictions end.
Exceptional Learners Collaborative Review
The district continues to meet with the administrative team from the Exceptional Learners Collaborative (ELC) to review D103’s agreement.
