Public Domain
work that isn’t protected by the copyright law because it is expired or it was donated
Examples: classic literature and classical music.
Freeware
copyrighted work that can be used or given away for free
Example: Itunes, safari, internet explorer
Shareware
copyrighted work that you can use for free for a limited amount of time.
Example: light apps, free 30 day trial
All Rights Reserved
Only allows the purchaser to use the software according to the details spelled out in the license agreement.
Example: most software you get at best buy or a similar store
Open Source
software that includes the source code so someone can improve it.
Examples: Firefox and chrome
