The Ouster Of Saddam Hussein

A Threat To National Security

Saddam Hussein was the 5th president of Iraq from 1979 to 2003

After the terrorist attacks on 9/11, Saddan Hussein was considered a threat, so american and british troops invaded Iraq in 2003 and removed him from power as a part of the war on terrorism. He later was captured and convicted in trial, and executed for crimes against humanity.

Making a new Democratic government was difficult

Conflicts between Sunni and Shiite muslims created conditions similar to a civil war

Despite the violence ellections were held between 2004 and 2005 to choose new leaders and a new national assembly
