Principal Update
Student Photos, Monday 9/18
Student photos will be taken next Monday, September 18th! Please have your Blue Heron students dressed and ready to smile for their fall photos. Pictures will be taken between first and fifth period for all students. A link to prepay for your photos can be accessed by clicking here. Prepaying for photos makes the process much faster and easier!
Healthy Youth Survey
On Oct. 13th our students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will be joining other Washington state students in participating in the Healthy Youth Survey. The survey is anonymous and optional, but we highly encourage students to participate as the goal is to provide us with vital information on our student population right here at Blue Heron. Questions cover topics such as substance use, mental health, and well-being. The results will determine what additional supports our students are needing and drive our decisions for prevention, intervention, and education lessons regarding healthy living and healthy choices to help your students grow in a positive way. Our school receives critical funding and outside services based on results from this survey.
For any families who are interested, please schedule your appointment to learn more about the important questions that will be asked. For any additional questions, please contact the school counselor, Eliza Farrell, at efarrell@ptschools.org.
Student Success Strategies
Once your child has set a short term goal, an important step is posting a reminder of what that goal is. You can help by identifying where to place this goal in writing so that your child can see the visual reminder. Post-its can be a great tool! Post it on the bathroom mirror so your child can see it each day when they brush their teeth, for example, or consider having your child put their goal on your family calendar so there can be a regular check in.
