West Ada School District Update
September 4, 2020
First Day of School is September 8
West Ada School District will be in remote learning with the understanding that Central District Health (CDH) may change their guidance. School district administration can move the district into yellow one week after that guidance is released (the next update by CDH is scheduled for September 9).
Meals are available for curbside pick up at your child's school weekdays between 10:50 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. You must order your child's meal by 7 a.m. for same-day pick up. Ordering can be done through email, phone call or My Payments Plus. See more details here: https://www.westada.org/Page/81982.

Letter from Activities Department
West Ada School District is pleased to announce that our school board has approved our 2020 Fall Athletic Plan. This plan allows our students to participate in extracurricular activities including competition against other schools. During this time, sports will look different and “buy in” is required by all. Our goal is to create as many opportunities as possible for our kids to play. We ask everyone involved to respect the decisions that have been made by adhering to the guidelines and expectations set forth by our schools. We are all in this current situation together.
Together we can reintroduce athletics and activities that are an important part of our student’s education in a safe manner. We ask that you follow these safety protocols:
- Practice physical distancing
- Wear a mask when you cannot physically distance
- Wash hands and sanitize often
- Follow the published health and safety plan of your school
During the red category when spectators may not attend, view the live streaming available for all fall sports games at any event held in our high school stadium’s and gymnasiums on the NFHS Network. You can access that information and create an account at: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/users/sign_in_.
We are excited for the opportunity to return to play in a safe way and need the support of all of our parents when it comes to the guidance determining when fans can attend games. We appreciate your patience in this ever-changing landscape.
Immunization Documentation Required for In-Person & Online Learning
According to IDAPA 16.02.15, to enter or transfer into public or private schools, all children in preschool and grades K-12 must meet immunization requirements at registration and before attendance. No child shall attend school without proof of immunization status. These are requirements whether your child attends online or in-person.
Due to confusion about this not being an online requirement and/or challenges with getting into primary care providers, West Ada School District is providing a one-week extension for parents to provide a current immunization record. Please provide a copy of your immunization record to your school nurse.
An immunization record includes:
- Copy of completed immunization record
- Completed exemption form
There are many local resources where free or low-cost immunizations are available. The Meridian Schools Clinic accepts walk in visits or appointments for immunizations. The clinic has opened additional hours to assist families needing immunizations for school entry. They may be reached at 208-514-2527 and are located at 925 NW 1st St. Meridian, ID 83642 adjacent to Meridian Elementary School.
In addition, Central District Health can do immunizations by appointment. They can be reached at 208-327-7450.
Masks in Schools
As a reminder, masks/facial coverings are required once students return to in-person learning. Staff will be provided with a face mask and/or face shield. Students are encouraged to provide their own face covering, and cloth face coverings are available in each school for students that do not have or forget their face covering. Masks are required on the buses as well.
Please recognize some students and staff may have medical conditions which preclude them from wearing masks. We ask for avoidance in "mask shaming" individuals for not wearing masks. Protect yourself by safely moving six feet away and limiting interactions with others.
For parents, it will be helpful to provide a consistent positive message to children that schools have important new rules and procedures to help keep everyone as safe as possible. By supporting these new procedures and rules, students will be reassured that they are going to be safe at school. In addition, parents can provide supportive preventative measures such as not sending your child to school when they are sick, taking your child’s temperature each morning prior to the student going to school, encouraging wearing a face mask and having a plan in place to pick your child up within 30 minutes if contacted by the school.
Wearing masks/facial coverings is temporary but is mandatory to getting students back to in-person leaning. Please support wearing masks so we can safely achieve this goal and allow our students the opportunity for in person learning.
