Slater Times
A Weekly Newsletter for the Informed Slater Parent
Slater is an Anti-Bullying Campus
We want all of our Slater students to feel safe so we are encouraging them to treat each other with respect, kindness, and courtesy. We are doing our part at the school by providing positive messages about kind behavior. We are also giving students coupons for acts of kindness throughout building that they can trade in for incentives.
Help us keep the conversation going by talking to your kids about the importance of protecting themselves by reporting any forms of bullying that they see anywhere!!
Progress Reports on the Way!
Grades are on the way Today!!
We encourage our teachers to keep in touch with our parents so that there are no surprises. You can also always reach out to your child's teacher(s) for a conference to address any academic or behavioral concerns.
The more we work together as a team, the stronger our students become!! To schedule a conference with your child's teacher, please contact the Slater Parent Center @(404)802-4050 and ask for Ms. Woods.
Mission Monday
The Mission for the week is Here!
This week is Mission #4
The staff will:
Engage a student in a brief conversation and give them a compliment.
The students will:
Give a high five to a new person each day this week along with a smile!
Keeping the Slater Way on your Mind Everyday!
Slater is a Uniform School!!
To ensure that our learning environment is equitable and focused on instruction, we are a uniform school. All students are required to be in uniform Monday - Friday. Our uniforms consist of khaki or navy blue bottoms (shorts, pants, skirts) and white, orange, or blue polo shirts. All students should be in uniform Monday-Friday. If you are facing a challenge in purchasing uniforms for your child(ren), feel free to reach out to our parent liaison, Ms. Woods, for assistance @(404)802-4050.
Early Dismissal Friday's!!
Early Release Day
As a reminder, every Friday our school day ends at 1:00 p.m. in order for our teachers to receive training and workshops to ensure your child(ren) have a top-notch educational experience here at Slater. All students must be picked up no later than 1:00 p.m. each Friday!!Let's Keep our Kids Timely!!
Research indicates that missing more than five days of school each year, regardless of the cause, begins to impact student academic performance and starts shaping attitudes about school.
At Slater Elementary, we recognize the relationship between daily school attendance, school climate, student performance, and social-emotional health. We also know that the amount of time actually spent in class is a good measure of student access to an education. Each tardy or absence means a student has lost an opportunity to learn.
At T.H. Slater Elementary, we strive to proactively monitor school wide attendance and the individual attendance of each student.
Introducing Ms. Anna Farrrar
When she is not working with her students, she enjoys playing with her dogs, and developing a series of children's books about her dogs' (a pair of Dachshunds) adventures!
