Game On
The Beatrice Gilmore School Bears Den after-school programs are up and running for the second session of the school year. Some students selected the Brain Games club. Do you ever have game nights with your family? Brain Games is similar to those fun game nights you may have with your friends, siblings, and relatives. Students play all kinds of games during this club: card, board, or computer games. Sure, certain games require more brain power compared to others, but all games are fun and engaging. Pictured are BG students playing Connect 4, Battleship, checkers, and chess. Every Thursday, students have an opportunity to play bingo. Also pictured are bingo winners with their prizes.

Making a Difference
The Memorial Middle School guidance department hosted an assembly Tuesday morning celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther J. King Jr. Presented by Mobile Ed Productions, presenter Tyrone Williams emerged from a time machine to teach and tell students about Dr. King's childhood experiences and what led him to becoming an American hero. The program highlighted Dr. King's belief in non-violence and peaceful protesting as the most effective way to battle social injustice and inequality. The students had discussions in their classes after the assembly about which speeches stood out to them the most and ways they can follow in Dr. King's footsteps.
