Volume 1 ~ Issue 13~ Week of October 23, 2022

Message from the Principal

It's Progress Report Week!! This Friday, October 28th, you will able to access the Quarter 2 Progress Report via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This will show the grades that your child has earned over the duration of 12 weeks of school. It's hard to believe there are only 6 weeks of school remaining before Final Exams. We are in the home stretch, Vikings!

Parents, I hope you join me this Thursday evening at 5:30pm for Pizza with the Principal! Come listen to updates from MVA administration, counseling, ASB, After-school program, and more! While you're there, enjoy a couple slices of delicious and free pizza (while supplies last)! ASB will also be there selling spirit gear, MVA items, and discounted Winter Formal dance tickets, so be sure to bring cash to take advantage of that opportunity!! Hope to see you there! Can't make it in person? No worries, the meeting will be offered virtually as well! More details in the flyer below!

It's Red Ribbon Spirit Week! Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people each year. Alcohol and other forms of drug abuse in this country have reached epidemic stages, so any and all unified prevention education efforts hope to help eliminate the demand for drugs and keep our kids safe! I hope you participate in the spirit week and join the fight against drugs!

Congratulations to Mr. Garcia's advisory class for winning last week's Music Monday challenge and earning fresh donuts! Remember, this is a game where each week, I play a short snippet of a song over the PA system and the 3rd advisory class that calls the office with the correct title and artist, wins a special breakfast treat that morning! Will your advisory class win this week?!?

Wishing you a great Week 13, Vikings!

Take care,

Ms. Scott

Dress appropriately on Halloween!!

Although dressing up for Halloween is fun, education is the first priority at Mar Vista Academy. Therefore, costumes must not inhibit the ability of a student to participate fully in classes. Students must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see and hear in their costumes. All costumes must be school appropriate! Please use good judgement! See more details below!
