Red River Campaign
Caitlin Clemmons 7th period
The first battle was the Red River Campaign that happened around late August in 1874. The Red River Campaign is the outcome of the Civil War. The South had fought long and hard against the North, but the military of the Confederates was not enough to prevail against the North.
The Red River Campaign included the largest combined army-navy operation of the war. It was the last decisive Confederate victory of the war. The behavior of Union leaders raised such concerns in Washington that a congressional investigation was called.
