Who is MLK?

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was both a Baptist minister and civil-rights activist, had a huge impact on race relations in the United States, prime mover of the Montgomery bus boycott, keynote speaker at the March on Washington, youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate. beginning in the mid-1950s. Through his activism, he played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of African-American citizens in the South and other areas of the nation, as well as the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Family & Achievements

King married Coretta Scott in Marion, Alabama. They had four children: Yolanda Denise ,Martin Luther King III Dexter, and Bernice Albertine. Time Magazine designated King as ''Person of the Year'' for 1963. in 1964, he was named recipient for the Noble Peace Prize. The March was an unprecedented success. More than 200,000 black and white Americans shared a joyous day of speeches, songs, and prayers led by civil rights leaders, politicians, and entertainers. The impact King had on the united states was far more than important and we continue to keep his legacy on to this day.

Why i chose this historical figure

I chose Martin Luther King JR. because he's very important in society due to his fight for our freedom and equality i really look up to that because i believe its far more than important, and if it wasn't for him, today's society probably would still be how it was before MLK stood up and fought for our rights.
