ISASP LETTER FOR REMOTE/CRVA FAMILIES ONLY

This letter was mailed to remote/CRVA families today. Please reach out to us with any questions.

NOW IS THE TIME TO CHECK YOUR PARENT PORTAL

Do you have one set up and ready to go? Everything up-to-date?

Make sure you can access your Infinite Campus parent portal. If you don’t know your username and password, contact your student’s school . . . before the school year is over!

Why is it important to have an updated portal? You can find important information in your portal:

  1. Check your student's grades and attendance
  2. Update your contact information
  3. After July 1, 2021, you can update your student’s information and complete important yearly forms through annual verification (you’ll be hearing more about this as the time gets closerit’s super important).

If you believe you are eligible for reduced fees for the 20-21 school year, complete and return these two forms to McKinley. RELEASE AGREEMENT/EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS SURVEY. HOUSEHOLD INCOME SURVEY

7TH GRADE IMMUNIZATIONS

Dear Parent/Guardian:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of immunization requirements that will impact rising 7th grade students. Students entering 7th grade are now required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine for individuals who have not already received those vaccines. Please contact your health care provider or local health department if your child needs these vaccines. For additional information about the vaccines and diseases they protect against, visit the Center of Disease Control and Prevention’s website at www.cdc.gov/vaccines/who/teens/index.html.

Please be prepared, on the first day of school, to provide proof of immunization.

Principals are required by law to prohibit any student from attending school until proof of

immunization of required vaccinations have been supplied to school office. Please be

proactive and get your child’s vaccines completed.

If there are any questions, please contact Ashley Perez BSN, RN at 319-558-3132.

Sincerely,

McKinley Steam Academy School Nurse

KIDS AND PET DAY!

Thanks to everyone who submitted photos of their pets. We received many photos; below are just a few.
Big picture

HOT SPOTS - PLEASE RETURN

In Person - If you checked out a hotspot at the beginning of the year, please have your student return the hotspot and the charging cord to Mrs Gardner in the IMC.

Remote/CRVA - If you no longer need the hotspot/charging cord, please return it to McKinley. Call when you arrive at the school, and someone will come out to your car. If your student is using a hotspot, we will be in touch with instructions on how to return the hot spot as it gets closer to the end of the school year.

All hot spots will be turned off one week after the last day of school.

CHECK YOUR STUDENT'S VIRTUAL BACKPACK

Is your student interested in summer camps and sports leagues? Need ideas for after-school activities and events? Community organizations frequently add flyers into the virtual backpack—it's filling up!

HY-VEE CASH 4 STUDENTS

Thank you to all who participated in the 20-21 Hy-Vee Cash 4 Students program. This year came to an end on March 31. For each $200 in Hy-Vee receipts, McKinley earns $1. This year we earned $1200 for McKinley. All money earned is used to purchase items for the Bear Paw Store..

The new year starts April 1, 2021, so keep collecting receipts.

How to Turn in Receipts:

Students can give receipts to their advisory teachers.

You can drop off receipts to McKinley, M-F, from 7:30 to 4:00. Just call when you arrive, and someone will come and meet you.

Send your receipts electronically. To sign up for electronic receipts, go to https://www.hy-vee.com/perks/ (Opens in a new window). Once you log in, it will bring you to your customer profile. Towards the bottom of the first column, it will ask you if you want to receive a digital receipt. Click yes. E-mail your electronic Hy-Vee receipt to Mckhyvee@gmail.com (Opens in a new window).

The program for this year runs April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021.

Ask friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers to collect receipts for McKinley. It's not too late to start collecting and turning in receipts.

I am assuming the program will continue past March 31, so keep collecting receipts.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - JUNE 4
