Happy New Year!!
Curran Early Childhood Education Center
Good morning, ECEC Community! Happy New Year!!
It is my pleasure to welcome you and your children back to the second half of the 20-21 school year as we say goodbye to 2020 and welcome 2021 with open arms!! I hope you all were able to find some light in your lives over the holiday season and make the most of the time at home with your immediate family members. We are hopeful that all members of our Dedham community were able to adhere to the guidelines that were sent out on December 23rd in a letter from Superintendent Welch and developed in coordination with the Board of Health. In order for us to keep our schools open for in-person learning, we are counting on everyone to follow the recommendations contained and safely return students to school when families are sure they have complied with the guidelines during break. Just a reminder that if you traveled outside of Massachusetts or spent extended time with folks outside of your immediate family, your children should be quarantining until January 11th.
As we begin the new year, we look forward to getting back into the routines that had been established before the holidays with daily synchronous instruction, specialists, and Wednesday afternoon asynchronous learning. Just a reminder that this upcoming Wednesday is a NO SCHOOL day for staff professional development.
Please accept my heartfelt wishes for a happy, healthy, safe, and light-filled 2021!!
With Heartfelt Thanks!
One tradition that I have had during the holiday season every year that my daughter has been alive (she is 21 now) is to sit with her and have her help me unwrap and open all the gifts I receive from students, families, and staff members. This year was no exception, and to say that I was blown away by the thoughtfulness that was shown from every corner of my school community would be an understatement. The gift cards, candy, holiday keepsakes, and unbelievable notes of gratitude were above and beyond what I ever would have expected! The only gift I ever need is the smiling faces of your children each and every day! Your outreach during this holiday season is so appreciated and I couldn't be more grateful for all your thoughtfulness and appreciation!
Kindergarten Registration 2021-2022 School Year
If you have a child who will be 5 years old on, or before, September 1st, 2021, they are eligible to be enrolled for kindergarten during the 21-22 school year. If your child is currently attending the ECEC for preschool, and meets the above age requirements, a new registration is not required, however, an up to date 5-year-old physical will need to be submitted in order to enroll. All kindergarten registration information can be found on the ECEC website at www.dedham.k12.ma.us/ecec. Please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Kerrigan or Mrs. Taylor with any questions.
We strongly believe in the importance of outdoor recess for all of our students. Please be sure that your children are prepared for outdoor recess every day that they attend school. Classes will participate in outdoor recess provided the "feels like" temperature is 25 degrees or higher. Heavy coats, mittens/gloves, hats, and boots for snow are all strongly recommended so that your children can get necessary fresh air and movement breaks!! If any family is in need of any of these items for their children, please feel free to reach out to us!! Thank you for your support!!
