LA VERNIA PRIMARY DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

7:00 am - Doors open for student drop off; car line begins at gym side and front of building (all grade levels may use either car line in the morning)

No adult supervision prior to 7:00 am

Parents wishing to walk their students to the building MUST park, use the crosswalk, and walk with their students to the doors. Do not drop your child off in the parking lot.

7:00 – 7:30 am - breakfast will be served in the cafeteria. Students report to gym or cafeteria.

7:40 am - Car line closes; parents must park and escort child into building

7:45 am - students are marked tardy

Afternoon Pick Up Procedures

3:10 pm - Dismissal - car line begins moving; buses begin loading

For student safety, walk-ups are not allowed in the pm. We ask all parents to use the car line.

Students will sit with their class and WAIT to be called and assisted by a staff member to their car:

  • Pre-K/Kinder will be on the gym side of the school. (Alexandria Street.)

  • 1st & 2nd Grade will be in the front of the school.

  • Older siblings will sit with the younger student in class line. (Dual car rider)

  • No child will be placed in a car without a car tag. Be sure the visor tag is

visible in the vehicle.

Failure to have a tag will require an adult to go to the office, get a car tag, and get back in the car line.

**If you have a student coming from intermediate for dual car rider, note those students don’t arrive until 3:15 pm. Please avoid being at the front of the car line.**

All students – car riders, walkers, and bus riders – are asked to keep their transportation tag attached to their backpack at all times. This tag is coded and assists in the safety of all children.

Transportation Changes/Checking Your Child Out Early

2:30 pm

If you must change how your child regularly goes home, please call the front office at (830) 779-6600 by 2:30 pm in order for the change to be made. Do not email transportation changes to the teacher as messages may not be seen.

2:45 pm

We understand that there are medical, personal, and even special events that cause your child to be checked out early from school. However, routinely checking out your child from school should be avoided. In order for students to be dismissed safely, no early check-outs will be made after 2:45 pm.

YMCA on Campus

The Primary Campus hosts the YMCA after school program. This year, students who are not picked up by 3:30 when the car line ends, are taken to the YMCA and may be charged a drop in fee if student is repeatedly left late at school. Please visit with us if you have questions.

Seeking Garden Volunteers

Let us know if you have a green thumb, or if you just want to get involved! Email your child's homeroom teacher and we can get you in contact with some of our master gardeners!
