Week 3 Distance Learning Plan
Ms. Gabriel's Class March 30th - April 3rd
Announcements for Next Week
Another week of Distance Learning is complete! I thought the live sessions this week were amazing - I hope your kids enjoyed them as much as I did!
Now that we are settled in to our new ways of life, I will be increasing the amount of live Zoom opportunities for the class. This means more live teaching, as well as more live social opportunities for the kids. All academic meetings will be recorded and posted on Zoom after, but social meetings will not be recorded. Specialist classes will also be offering one live Zoom session per week. You'll be able to find information about those sessions on their Seesaw accounts. Please read the disclaimer at the bottom of this section for more information about recordings.
Week 3 is Spirit Week at Evergreen Academy! Every day this week, kids are invited to dress for a different theme. Themes for each day are listed below under "Important Reminders." We will have a morning Zoom meeting every day at 9:15am for kids to show off their outfits! If your child doesn't want to dress up, they are still invited to the morning meeting to see their friends' outfits. We hope this week can bring our school community together over some crazy outfits!
Finally, as we transition out of the beginning stages of distance learning, I want to update you on our staff's conversations surrounding the grade book and attendance. It's become clear that your kids are going to be doing huge amounts of schoolwork at home, and it's important to me that they get credit for all of their hard work. I am keeping track of completed assignments, daily attendance, and your kids' effort. The grade book is important to me not to penalize busy families, but to make sure your kids get the credit they deserve for their hard work and growing knowledge. I also want to ensure the evidence of that work can appear on a report card or personal learning plan in the future. That being said, the absolute most important thing to me is all of your families' health and happiness, and if an assignment falls through the cracks here or there, that will not impact your child's grades.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: All academic Zoom meetings will be recorded and posted on Seesaw. If you are uncomfortable with your child being recorded, please opt out of the Zoom meetings or consider logging on without sharing video. I will only record academic meetings, so Spirit Week Check-Ins and other social events will not be recorded or posted anywhere.
