EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Brian Shacochis. Brian is our tremendously talented Video & TV Production Teacher at Marshfield High School. Beyond teaching the skills of television production in the classroom, he works with dozens of MHS students in creating programming that is shown at MHS as well as on Marshfield Community Media. You can find Brian and his students at games, student performances and around the community. He not only helps teach them the skills, he also creates the passion within his students that drive many of them to continue in this field when they leave MHS. He is a tremendous team player and supports all things Marshfield. Thank you Brian for all you do for the MPSD! #bettertogether
FBMS HONORING OUR VETERANS
MPSD PROFESSONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY
The day began with a presentation for all staff by the 2019 Education Dive: K-12 Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Joe Sanfelippo. A talented district leader from Fall Creek, WI, Dr. Sanfelippo kept our educators enthralled during his presentation. He then spent time working with the MPSD leadership team.
For the remainder of the day, educators moved throughout the high school taking part in a variety of PD offerings that included:
Trauma Informed Practices
Special Education Legal Updates
Elementary Math Meetings
Reading & Innovation-Art of Coaching Book Study
Executive Functioning
Foundations for Inclusive Practices
IEP Goal Development
Department Specific Choice PD
Thank you to everyone for being so engaged throughout the day. It was a great day for professional learning.
MARSHFIELD EDUCATION FOUNDATION- GIVING CAMPAIGN
A message from the Marshfield Education Foundation(MEF):
For over ten years, Marshfield Education Foundation has provided opportunities for enhanced learning by working in partnership with Marshfield’s educators to fund grants that complement the social, emotional and academic development of our students. As we enter the season of giving, we hope you’ll consider supporting the Marshfield Education Foundation with a donation to our 3rd Annual Fall Giving Campaign. Donate Today!
DECA's THANKSGIVING GAME FUNDRAISER
The Marshfield DECA Chapter will run a Thanksgiving Football Game Fundraiser in which we offer high-top tables in the indoor track for $150 a piece to watch the football game with an included breakfast. There are 17 tables available with 4 seats per table. Each table will receive a Marshfield blanket, drinks (including coffee), and a hot breakfast.
This will be a great way to support DECA as you cheer on the Rams as they take on Duxbury in their annual Thanksgiving game.

HOMEWORK FREE- VETERANS DAY WEEKEND
Once again, in honor of Veterans Day, the Marshfield Public Schools will be Homework Free across the district on Veterans Day and over the Veterans Day weekend.
We started this tradition seven years ago and going “homework free” in conjunction with Veterans Day has been greatly appreciated by students and staff, our families and, most importantly, our Veterans. The district continues to focus attention on the social-emotional well-being of our students and staff, and by adjusting their homework schedule for Veterans Day, it has a big impact on our educational stakeholders. Annually, the issue of homework is one that has generated a lot of discussion across the region and it has been reported to teachers and administrators that schedules and stress levels continue to grow as the year progresses. We hope that these homework free nights can help relieve some of that stress.
In addition, each year we have used this time away from homework to allow our students and staff, and their families, to focus on the importance of recognizing Veterans Day. In lieu of homework, it is our hope that members of our school community, as they have over the years, will find the time on Veterans Day (or over the weekend) to thank a Veteran they may know for their service to our country. The person they reach out to could be a relative, a neighbor or a friend. In addition, if members of our school community can attend the Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11th at Veterans Memorial Park, I know that the dedicated group of men and women, who have given so much to our country, would greatly appreciate the gesture.
As a district, we like to say that we are "better together" and this simple gesture is just one more example of our community coming together to honor some very special people. #ThankaVet
