A Message from the Principals
Although Comprehensive Distance Learning has presented some challenges and took time to get used to, we were able to finish the first quarter strong with improved habits and efforts in place!
As we wrap up the first week of Quarter Two, a few tips and reminders:
-We know this is a difficult time and we are here to help! If you are struggling to support your child or find ways to motivate them, please let us know so we can help find a solution. We are here to serve our students and families and want everyone to be successful!
-Be sure to complete work daily. Missing one day of work puts students behind in 3-6 subjects. Missing 3 days of work equates to more than 15 missing assignments and makes it very difficult to catch up.
-If your student is going to miss a day, send your teacher a message and let him/her know! Attendance will only count if you message them the day of the absence or the next morning before 8am.
-Missing work will only be accepted through Sunday. After Sunday missing work will be graded with a zero.
-Grades count toward grade level promotion during Distance Learning.
We will continue to do all we can to support educational success this year and are excited to see how wonderful RPA students perform in Quarter Two!
We hope to see you this Monday at Coffee with the Principals and Tuesday at our Native Language (Spanish) Community Circle!
Thank you for being a part of our RPA family!

Second Grade
Second grade had a magical first quarter! We were blown away with how quickly the students figured out how school on-line would work. Second grade is definitely starting to get tricky, so please make sure your student always has a pencil and paper ready during the videos to take notes! In math we're continuing to practice multiplication, start and end problems, and geometry. We're starting comparing number families in the next week. In spelling, we've been practicing adding suffixes, learning opposites, finding consonant-vowel-consonant endings, spelling 4 letter words, and of course always practicing our handwriting! In reading we continue practicing our skills to read tricky words out loud like words with the silent e at the end and breaking words into syllables to read them quickly. In language we've been working hard on directions, ordering words alphabetically, and using coordinates to move around a map. Thank you for helping your kiddos succeed in quarter 1 and we can't wait to get quarter 2 underway! Reminder- we will have our first virtual field trip on December 10th.
Thanks,
Ms. Tate and Ms. Bond

A Message From our English Language Teacher - Mrs. Peoples
English Language Development is functioning very differently this year. Not a surprise. I have been in regular communication with Principals and Classroom Teachers as how to best serve our clever multi- language students. We have a schedule, posted on Dojo. I have a Classroom, Mrs. Peoples Parlor.
When your student is scheduled, go to my Classroom, click on Meet Link, have notebook and pencil handy and be ready to participate in English Language Fun!
For those not on the ELL list, I will be observing morning meetings and live instruction. I will see all of our ELL learners!

Update from our Counselor Mrs. Bulich!
What's new in the Counseling department for December?! In November, students learned all about bullying and bullying prevention. This month, students will learn about friendships, like how to make lasting friendships and how to problem solve with friends. There will be weekly activities that align with this theme, and one bigger live lesson with each class during the last week of before winter break. The schedule for the monthly class lessons is posted on ClassDojo and the school counseling website!
Upcoming Events:
- Coffee with the Counselor will be on December 7th at 5:00 PM.
Your Counselor,
Mrs. Bulich

I wanted to take a minute to thank every student for the hard work they have put in to PE this year. I know it is hard to get the energy at home to be active, but I believe in each one of you!! Special thanks to the PE award winners for their dedication to live PE and their willingness to learn new skills.
