From the Principal.....
Dear Mustang Families,
The Mustang staff are committed to creating a year of excellence for our children as we focus on bringing our students, staff and community together to "Believe” in our path together. "Believe" is our motto as we continue to focus on making our district vision and mission the core of our daily work with children, teachers and parents. This will guide our work to believe in our students, our staff and our families working together. We're going to believe in each other in our quest to make a difference. #McBrideBelieve
As always, please feel free to reach out with question, concerns or compliments!
Sincerely,
Lisa Tyler

Dismissal Safety
Please be watchful when leaving McBride at dismissal. Our Safety Patrol Team and Safety Duty Supervisors do the best job they can to keep our walkers safe as they leave our property. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Safety Patrol Team in yellow walking out in the street with their flags to stop traffic so students and families can cross safely. Thank you so much!

McBride's First Tidy Up Tuesday was a Success!
Our first ever Tidy Up Tuesday was a big success!
Working TOGETHER on Tuesday, October 29th; teachers and students were invited to "adopt" a section of hallway to "Tidy Up. These "Tidy Up" moments for Mustangs were only 5-10 minutes. The goal was achieved. Mustangs worked together at a common goal. Look at the smiles on these faces. They loved supporting their Mustang home! It was a special day! Mustangs will have an opportunity every other month on a Tuesday to help "Tidy Up" our Mustang home.
We BELIEVE that working together as a team to care for our school demonstrates responsibility and pride of ownership. McBride Mustangs have pride. The goal is that we have pride in ourselves, pride in each other, and pride in our school building. I'm sure when you ask your child to vacuum or wash the dishes you know that you'll have to come behind and get it done the right way, however the valuable lessons children learn from doing their part is exactly we want our students to learn. Tuesday was a great way to give them an opportunity to do that!
Team Read
We have a team of volunteers who have come to support second graders learning to read. This team is trained by a retired McBride teacher, Jodie Withers and closely works with "Team Read" each week to provide a boost to instruction for our students. We would love for you to be a part of Team Read.
If you choose to volunteer it would be on a Tuesday or Thursday from 8:50 to approx 10:00. Please contact Jodie Withers at: grannyjodiereads@gmail.com
Lost and Found
We will be clearing out our Lost and Found during Thanksgiving Break. Please make sure you look through the Lost and Found located in the Cafeteria and pick up any jackets, water bottles, etc that may have been left at school before the items are donated.
Thank you!
Recess Game of the Week
Elimination Circle was taught and played during Recess Games/PE on Wednesday.
Students from the classes below can help interested players with playing the game correctly!
5-George
4-Douglass
3-Campbell
2-Kreafle
1-Griffin
KG - Hall
- 5-30 students stand in a circle with their feet shoulder wide and the sides of their feet touching
- Students cannot move their feet and they lean forward with their legs fairly straight
- 1 ball will be hit back and forth around the circle as students try to have it go through someones legs
- If a ball is hit through your legs, you are out and the circle gets smaller, players who are out can help retrieve the ball
- If it goes between two players or over players, no one is out, retrieve the ball and continue the game
- When there are two players left the game is complete. Everyone can rejoin the BIG circle and start another game.
- If there is a really big group you can use 2-3 balls

Together "Believe" Awards
Mrs. Harkins and Mrs. Marshall- (PLC Teacher & Counselor) These two wonderful ladies greet our morning breakfast eaters, assist them during breakfast, and prepare each and every student for a great day ahead. We are lucky to have this amazing duo in the cafeteria each and every day.
Lee Ann Holcomb and Katie Marsh - (Life Skills Team Members) Who spoils the staff with delicious treats? Who goes above and beyond on their scheduled staff room clean-up week? Who are the queens of Halloween at McBride? These two! Thank you!
Grandma Betty (Mustang Volunteer) Grandma Betty was an awesome help in prepping a craft for a first grade activity!
Safety Patrol Duty Supervisors (LeeAnn Holcomb, Rachael Thorp, Tammy Sweeney, Mary Beatley and Miss B) Thank you Safety Patrol Duty Supervisors for leading our student team, spoiling them with treats and braving the cold weather this week.
The Reading Team helped out at the end of the day today to make sure all of my students were packed up and ready to go.
Lindsay Campbell (3rd Grade Teacher) Mrs. Campbell has been an awesome support to New Crew Members (new teachers at McBride). She is intentional and encouraging, and her check ins and positivity have been much appreciated!
Tim Trapold (New Classroom/Computer Asst) Mr. Trapold has done a fantastic job jumping in and helping with tough kiddos this week! He is already loved by students and is building a positive presence in our building. Thanks for everything you have done to support classrooms so far, Tim!
When a staff member gets sick, it is always a scramble to make sure everything is taken care of... thank you Mrs. Orr, Ms. McCartney, Mrs. Griffin, Mrs. Wartenberg and Pod B staff for helping a colleague when sickness takes over.
Emily Ricker (Mustang Volunteer) Mrs. Ricker comes faithfully every Tuesday and prepares student\ homework folders and does many other tasks. She also brings delicious baked treats to put in our staff room!
Bridgett Harkins (PLC Teacher) Whenever colleagues are in need of anything.....from special stickers, wonderful books with social stories, extra snacks for kids......and even an earring back (seriously!) .... she's the gal! Thank you for always being so generous with your things.
Sharon Shiel and Michelle Flock (Reading Team) These ladies quickly sized up a difficulty a Mustang friend was having at recess. They discretely kept eyes on and, when their recess duty was over, immediately stepped in to help.
Carolyn Hunt (1st Grade Teacher) Mrs. Hunt has assisted taking my class to specials on her way to pick her class up several times these past few weeks. There have been several days when a colleague was supporting a student who was experiencing difficulty and Mrs. Hunt assisted by taking her class to specials.
Emily Hall (Kindergarten Teacher) Miss Hall is such a great addition to the McBride family. She’s very warm, loving and supportive of her whole class and her teammates. When a colleague went in for advice she helped guide me in a way that lifted my heart to help all the students at McBride, not just the littles. Her advice and her way of interacting with students has been in the forefront more times than can be counted in the last few days. We struck gold with her!
