Don't leave personal items unattended

Students, please do not leave skateboards or bikes overnight on AHS campus. We are experiencing a number of items being stolen. With that said it does not mean that AHS students are responsible for the thefts due to the nature of our campus layout.

Leadership November Assembly

"Our November Assembly was in honor, reflection, and remembrance of Veterans Day and lives lost recent events in our country. We welcomed Vietnam Veteran Jack Duggan and listened to his powerful story of life after the war. "I ask for you to do the right thing in your community," he encouraged the students to do in honor of veterans. Student Greta Zeve paid tribute to the victims of the Paradise Fire, while student Marin Monteith gave an impactful speech in honor of the Tree of Life Synagogue (Pittsburgh) shooting. Brooklyn Williams and Madison Davis concluded with a song about resilience. While these can be difficult topics to discuss, our student body came together and wrote thoughtful "Recognition Cards" for the Tree of Life Synagogue and the city of Paradise. This act of kindness became an outlet for students to directly give their love and support for these communities."

Scholarship and Grant Information Session

If you would like more information about scholarships and grants available to AHS seniors, you are invited to attend a discussion of scholarship and grant opportunities on Wednesday, December 5th from 6:30-8:00 pm in the IVC. Seniors are learning how to complete scholarship and grant applications in their College and Career Readiness classes, and also receiving detailed lists of scholarship opportunities available to them. For more information on scholarships, please see the AHS website at http://www.ashland.k12.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=2325. The last half hour of the evening will focus on grants available to students at the federal, state, and institutional levels. Not all of these grants are need-based, but to receive them students must complete the FASFA. It is important for students planning to attend a private/public university, community college or trade school to complete the FAFSA, which qualifies students to receive the Federal Pell Grant, Oregon Opportunity Grant, Oregon Promise, and government loans. Information about FAFSA and financial aid is available on the AHS website at http://www.ashland.k12.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=2338. For more information contact jennifer.marsden@ashland.k12.or.us.
