Valentine's Day- Tuesday, Feb. 14th

We wish a happy Valentine's Day to everyone who celebrates; however, we request that families do NOT have gifts delivered to your student(s) at school. Every year, this causes much unnecessary disruption to the school day as well as additional work for our busy office staff.

**Please note: If deliveries are sent to school, we will ask the delivery person to return them or the items will be held in the front office for you to pick up at the end of the school day.

We appreciate your understanding.

Pre-K Application Window

The Ellis Pre-K Application window for the 2023/2024 school year is NOW OPEN from February 8th-24th.

If you or someone you know is interested in applying Pre-K at Ellis, visit the SCCPSS website for more information and a link to the application.

Counselors' Corner

This past week was National School Counseling Week, which focuses attention on the contributions of comprehensive school programs. To learn about our school counseling data and info, click here. PTA Staff Appreciation Brunch

Calling all families!

The PTA Teacher Appreciation Committee is organizing a Staff Brunch on Friday, March 31st, at 10am, and we would love your help!

If you would like to show your children's teachers some love, we have listed some easy ways to contribute to this brunch. We hope this can be a way for parents to easily and sincerely show appreciation.

Please click this link to sign up to donate/volunteer. The PTA Teacher Appreciation Committee will reach out to you with details on how to drop off your contribution.

Lost & Found- Updated!

To practice community responsibility, both online and in person, Upper Elementary students updated the Lost & Found page of Ms. Angie's Tech Corner website this week.

They collaborated in their peer online community in preparation for their work to be utilized in a larger community of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and caregivers.

Students reviewed computer science skills in photography, formatting text & images, re-sizing, cropping, adding borders, and following a few standard website design practices.

Please click the link above to view the lost & found. If you see something that belongs to your student, contact their classroom teacher or have your student retrieve the item from the ramp in the hallway outside the multi-purpose room (MPR).

Pre-order a Yearbook!

The 2022/2023 Ellis yearbook is now available for pre-order! Reserve a copy for your student(s) at this link.

The deadline to pre-order a copy is March 15, 2023. Any additional copies that we receive will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Pre-ordered yearbooks will be delivered directly to your student towards the end of the school year.

If you have any questions, contact Ms. Lisa (lisa.odonnell@sccpss.com).

Grace & Courtesy Emphasis

Throughout the school year, Ellis has a school-wide focus on specific positive character traits. Each teacher may choose to highlight these "Grace & Courtesy" emphases differently, but as a school we follow a general common curriculum.

From February 6th-February 17th, our school-wide Grace & Courtesy emphasis is ASSERTIVENESS.

The language for identifying/naming ASSERTIVENESS in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:

  • When I ask for what I need or want, I am being Assertive.
  • When I do or say the right thing--even when it's hard--I am being Assertive.
  • When I say "no" to someone who tries to hurt me or someone else, I am being Assertive.

Beacon Volunteer Program

We are so happy to welcome volunteers back into the building this year.

However, all volunteers MUST be approved through the SCCPSS Beacon Volunteer Program.

If you are interested in being a volunteer at Ellis, visit the SCCPSS Beacon webpage to apply.
