The Board Review
March 17, 2024
Trustees:
Spring Break is almost over and we are rested, energized, and ready to run.
As a reminder, we have a regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, March 18th (tomorrow) at 6:30 pm. It is not a long agenda, although we will have several student and staff recognitions, including our police department promotion ceremony. Please let me know if you have any questions that can be answered ahead of time.
Also as a reminder, we have a scheduled board workshop on Saturday, March 23rd, from 8:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. The focus will be the board self-evaluation collaborative, visioning, and budget planning. You will notice that the agenda packet includes JCA(Juan Cruz and Associates (attorney)) contract. This is a service contract to be used as we deem necessary. He will be providing the training on the board self-evaluation. Jameson is aware of this agenda item and understands the purpose and intent.
STAAR testing is right around the corner. We have approximately 19 instructional days before the first round of testing. Our teachers and administrators are focused and student centered. You will notice a STAAR testing resolution in the packet as well. Region 20 superintendents and their boards, that did not participate in the accountability lawsuit, are taking this resolution as a way to advocate for fair testing requirements. Most of us did not believe in the lawsuit so we did not take that step. What we are doing instead is advocating for fair decision making from the state as it pertains to testing and accountability.
Trustees, thank you for all you do. Please let me know if I can do anything for you or answer any questions. Have a blessed Sunday!
