Track and Field News:
Track & Field 2-6-18
Vanderbilt High School Invitational (2-3-18)
Titans junior T. J. Rawlins competed in both the long and triple jumps at the Vanderbilt High School Invitational in Nashville on Sat. Feb. 3rd. The oversized Vanderbilt (300 meter) indoor track, with excellent field venues, was conducive to record performances. Rawlins jumped his way into Collins history as his first of four long jumps established the school indoor record at 19-1. On his second attempt, he sailed 19-11 to up his newly minted record.
Later in the day he smashed Travis Kennon’s (’12) eight year old triple jump record of 35-11.75 as he bounded 41-8 on his first attempt. His jump was only 2.75 inches short of the PR he set last year at the State Meet and was his second best mark ever. Collins Head Coach George Sanderlin said, “T.J. got his season off to a great start. He had a very strong series in the triple jump going 41-8, 38-1, 40-10, and 40-0. You can throw out his second jump because he did not have a good jump phase. We look forward to continuing our assault on the indoor school record book.”
