Story Behind the Microwave Oven
Shortly after World War II, Spencer was already known as electronics genius and war hero. He noticed that the chocolate bar had began to melt. So he went for some popcorn. He didn't feel like eating a snack, so he asked for unpopped popcorn. Holding the bag of corn to the magnetron, watched as the kernels exploded into puffy morsels. The first microwave was made in 1945. It weighed only 750 pounds and stood 5'6. The first microwave oven was sold in 1946.
