Principal's Message
Greetings Legion Community,
The BHS school year is in full swing now with academics, athletics, and extracurricular events all making for a great experience for our students. Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, ASB Club Rush, our Early College, and Mock Trial began last week and our students are really digging in to learning in the classroom. I want to thank the dedicated BHS staff for such a great start to the year. Last week Assistant Principal, Heather Hoden, and I started our “Student Expectation Talks” with our 9th graders during the Symposium periods, and we will be continuing with the 10-12th graders this week. During these talks, we discuss the academic and behavioral expectations for all students. These expectations are found in our student handbook in the front of our student planners and can also be found as a link under the “students” tab on our BHS website: https://hs.bonsallusd.com/ The handbook contains important information for students and families including dress code, attendance processes and our instructional focus. I encourage parents to have a look at the handbook to help reinforce these successful habits in our students.
Instructionally, BHS is leading the way in providing the learning most necessary for student success in 2023 and beyond. For centuries, education centered around information in disciplines such as History, Science, Literature and Mathematics. While the information in these disciplines is important, BHS is focused on building skills to create effective historians, scientists, writers, and problem solvers. This excellent academic program coupled with outstanding extracurricular opportunities is what sets BHS apart!
In Partnership,
Daniel Smuts
Principal, Bonsall High School
