Pack Beats East Paulding 101 to 67 11/29/16
Tuesday night’s atmosphere was unbelievable as we played our rival East Paulding on our home court. Our crowd and student body gave us tons of energy as we started out the game. We came out of the gate strong, capitalizing on East Paulding’s pressure on the offensive end. After the end of the first quarter we held the lead 21 to 15. The 2nd quarter was when we really found our stride on the offensive end with a healthy balance of an inside out approach. We really shared the basketball and attacked as a group. We went into the half with a solid lead 36 to 50. In the third quarter we started out red hot hitting seven straight three-pointers to open up the quarter pushing our lead out to 81 to 53 to start the 4th quarter. We finished the contest with the final score 101 to 67 in our favor.
As a team we shot 55% from the 3-point arch and our players did a great job of finding of our shooters in the open court. Ethan Reid played a terrific all around basketball game, tabbing the school’s first ever triple, double! Ethan scored 10 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 10 assists. Chad Terrell reeled in another double, double scoring 21 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in overall proficient effort. Josh Burke scored 16 points and really found his rhythm from the outside to help us in the 2nd half. Josh Burke also tied the school record for steals with 5 in this game. McCoy Etienne scored 13 points on the night and did a terrific job of staying in attack mode throughout the night. Chandler Wood added 8 points to the game late. Jacob Whitehead and Cameron Cherry hit some big 3-pointers in the contest, and both players ended with 6 points apiece.
We will shift gears fast as Lassiter comes to North next Friday. Thanks to everyone who came out to the game Tuesday.

Pack Outlast Rockmart 86 to 62 11/26/16
Saturday afternoon we welcomed Rockmart in to the Wolfden for an after Thanksgiving contest. From the tip we brought unmatched enthusiasm and energy to our game on both sides of the floor. McCoy Etienne and Ethan Reid had some early backcourt steals for buckets to help us jump out to a 16 to 4 lead before a timeout was called. This hot start helped us stay sound the entire night and true to our game plan. Gunner Williams was red hot in the first half from the three-point stripe. Gunner’s teammates did a great job of finding him in the open court. Defense was the name of the game in the first half as we took our lead of 46 to 24 into the half. We came into the 2nd half with the same intensity and kept our foot on the gas pedal on the defensive side, while focusing on our multidimensional attack on the offensive side of the basketball. Our overall effort for 32 minutes from the entire team helped us prevail in a victory 86 to 62. Our Blue Collar team played very unselfishly for 32 minutes, while staying in attack mode. We talk in depth about everyone being a “star in their roles” and on this night this statement was boldly true! I was very pleased with our overall shot selection and willingness to make the extra pass throughout the night. This schematic approach, along with toughness on defense will be the key to the success of our season.
Ethan Reid and Chad Terrell finished the game with 19 points apiece. Both players played with a chip on their shoulder and were dynamic on both ends of the floor. Gunner Williams added 13 points on the night while going 4-8 from the three-point line. McCoy Etienne headed up the defense with great on ball pressure, while also chipping in 10 points. Josh Burke did a great job on the perimeter scoring 9 points. Cam Cherry had two big three pointers to add six points in the game. Jacob Whitehead, Luke Dabbelt, and Nick Mathurin were also big time contributors to the game.
Our Coaches also did a tremendous job during this game, and in preparation of the game over the Holiday break. Coach Conrad kept the team dialed in on defense, while aiding in substitution patterns. Coach Willis and Coach Morgan kept the defensive effort from getting stagnant. Coach Lyons was proficient in keeping us informed on shot selection and offensive execution.
We will enjoy the win, but get back to work Sunday as a coaching staff in preparation for Sonoraville/East Paulding on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

The Pack opens up their season with a win on the road over Paulding County 79 to 72. After going 4-8 from the 3-point line early to go into the 2nd quarter up 17 to 16. The excitement of the basketball game stayed in tact throughout the first half in this rivalry game. As the game progressed the Wolfpack was able to handle Paulding’s full-court pressure and score easy buckets in transition. Ethan Reed kept the spark alive in the 2nd quarter by making a tremendous pass to Chad Terrell for the ally-opp dunk! The pack took a 36 to 33 lead into the half. The 2nd half was an up and down contest, that was ultimately won by execution in the halfcourt. Josh Burke had a tremendous 3rd quarter to help the Pack, during a 3 min scoring drought. Gunner Williams also came through in the clutch going 4-6 from the 3-point arch, down the stretch to keep the Pack on pace to win the basketball game. In the 4th quarter the Pack pushed the lead out to 14 points, but Paulding hit some key shots down the stretch to cut the lead to 6 late in the game. The complete team effort continued as the Wolfpack took care of the basketball down the stretch and made free throws to aid them in the overall victory.

2016-2017 Season Preview
The 2016-2017 Season is fast approaching as the Pack return their most seasoned group of players since Coach Dyer’s arrival. The 2016-2017 Wolfpack features a very experienced backcourt along with a veteran crew in the interior. This year’s team is experienced and is well-adjusted to possibly the toughest region in the state of Georgia. Last year’s squad had a lot of youth on the basketball team, but turned the corner late in the season with big wins over Osborne and Harrison in the region to note. The 2015-2016 campaign ended in overtime to the hands of the Osborne Cardinals in the region tournament. Coach Dyer believes that last years’ experience has molded this team into winners and this year experienced group is ready to take the next steps in attempting to break the school’s record for wins (12) (2013-2014) and battle for a state tournament berth.
This year’s Wolfpack squad features Senior Point Guard Ethan Reid (4-year starter). Ethan averaged 14.1 points a game last season and is the best finisher at the rim in the region. Ethan brings a wealth of experience and leadership intangibles to the point guard slot this season. Chad Terrell (4-year starter South Carolina Football Commit) brings his experience, athleticism, and excitement to the wing/post position. Chad averaged 14.7 points a game last season, along with 8.7 rebounds. Chad is a dynamic player on both sides of the floor. Senior Gunner Williams averaged 8.7 points a game last year, and will bring his incredible shooting range from behind the arch to the court every night. Gunner has made himself into a proficient player from behind the arch and off the bounce. Senior McCoy Etienne has endured a terrific off-season, improving all facets of his overall game. McCoy averaged 8.1 points a game last season. McCoy is such a versatile player on both ends, he is sure to be an impact player this season for the Pack. Senior Josh Burke is one of the best shooters around. Josh knows how to score the basketball, and showed this trait last season averaging 7.7 points per game. Josh will be electric from the arch, while having the ability to score off the bounce in traffic. Senior Jacob Whitehead has put in major time this offseason in the gym. Jacob has made himself into a kid who can shoot the three and finish at the rim. Senior Nick Mathurin who saw major action last year will play in the low-post for this year’s Wolfpack. Nick plays with enthusiasm at all times and is sure be a force in the post. Sophomore Luke Dabbelt played strong and started 5 games last year as a Freshmen. Luke will help this year’s team on both ends of the floor as Luke is a true competitor. Junior Easton Murphy will help the pack from a defensive perspective this season as he is one of the best on the ball defenders in the region. Sophomore Jordan Veneziale will play in the post this season for the Pack! Jordan does a great job playing with spirit and toughness in the interior. Sophomore Cameron Cherry shoots the basketball exceptionally well, and will make a solid impact for the Pack as well. Sophomore’s Jacob Harris and Chandler Wood will also be expected to give the Blue Collar a team a lift in situations this season.
