From the Office of the Head of School
Open House, Picnic and Dedication Service
The 2nd annual West Shore Christian Academy Back to School Picnic and Dedication Service will be held on Thursday, August 21st beginning with the picnic at 5pm and the dedication service at 6:45pm. All WSCA families are encouraged to join us for a time of prayer and celebration as we commit this school year to the Lord. This will also be a great opportunity for our new families to get to know the vibrant community we enjoy here at WSCA.
Event Specifics: Dinner will be provided, free of charge, for our families. We will be serving grilled chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, tossed salad, potato salad, watermelon and drinks. Be sure to RSVP below so we know how much food to prepare! The picnic will take place on the WSCA athletic fields. Be sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets so you can relax while fellowshipping. The playground will be available for the little ones to enjoy, as well as pick-up basketball and soccer games. The dedication service will take place in the church sanctuary at 6:45pm.
Prior to the Picnic and Dedication Service we will be opening the doors to both the Lower and Upper Schools for families to visit their classrooms, meet the teachers, and check out the renovations. The Open House will take place from 2-4pm and we encourage families from every grade level to take advantage of this event.
In just a few short weeks, we will welcome over 85 new students to the WSCA family! This past year our Admissions team set a goal of 100 new students and asked our current school families to share WSCA with a friend or neighbor. We want to thank our WSCA parents for their support - over 55% of our new students found out about us through word of mouth! We welcome each of these new families and anticipate opening school on August 25 with a PreK-12 enrollment of 340 students! We praise God for the growth we have seen this year and look forward to another exciting year of enrollment growth in 2014-15!
* We want to thank Sara Potts, Senior, for designing our Net 100 logo (below)!
Leading the Way Campaign
This past year the WSCA Foundation Board set an ambitious goal to raise $200,000 for facility upgrades, faculty professional development, and technology upgrades. Thanks to generous donations by many friends of WSCA, a very successful Race for Education, a 40K matching gift to celebrate the school's 40th anniversary, the Whitaker Grant, and several "gifts in kind", we are pleased to announce the Foundation was able to meet our goal of $200,000! Praise God for His provision!
Many facility upgrades are nearing completion in both the Lower and Upper School. The transformation is amazing and we cannot wait to reveal it to our school families at our Open House on August 21, from 2-4 pm.
Luke 19 Project
This fall, WSCA will be teaming up with Glad Tidings India Ministry to provide a unique service opportunity for our families. Truly, we will make God’s Word come to life throughout our community. We can’t wait to share the details with you at our Back to School Picnic and Dedication Service. Stay tuned!
