A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Wednesday's snow brought with it tons of fun for students! The fresh coating of "powder" replenished our sledding hill and provided entertainment for recess time. Students are doing a great job remembering their snow gear. We're all very proud of our K-2 students who are doing a fantastic job managing to zip their coats, put on mittens, and remember hats!
Beginning this month, each Wednesday at lunchtime, some fourth and fifth-grade students have chosen to participate in Battle of the Books practice. Students read a variety of genres of books that are published on the Maine Student Book Award list. They get their lunch and bring it to
Mrs. Snell's room, where they practice answering various types of questions related to what they have read. The coaches are Mrs. Snell and Ms. Phippen, who also give up their lunch time to support this enriching opportunity. In late March, PES students will compete against peers from Fisher Mitchell School, Woolwich Central School, Georgetown School, and West Bath School. All participants will be awarded a $5 gift certificate to the Mockingbird Bookstore in Bath.
Tomorrow, our fifth-grade students will embark on a field trip to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute to experience "LabVenture." Students will experience an authentic science lab learning experience. It will give students opportunities to understand and apply key scientific practices, such as gathering, representing, and analyzing data. They will also examine important questions scientists examine regularly. Oh, and they get to ride on the cool bus! It is truly a favorite trip for fifth graders.
NURSE NOTE
Parents, please remind your kids about staying in their "bubble space" and good hand washing. We've had some pretty long lasting respiratory viruses recently. Hopefully, the worst of it is over.
STUDENTS HAVE ENJOYED PLAYING IN THE SNOW
Sled group patiently waits their turn.
