Shining Bright @ Madonna!
MCS News - October 15th, 2023
God Welcomes All Who are Open To His Invitation
Matthew 22: 1 - 14
Everyone Is Invited
Our Madonna Catholic School embodies this beautiful message each and every day as we open wide our doors and say Welcome to all of our children and families. Each one of us are special and unique, and our uniqueness is what brings flavour to our days together!
When students invite others to play, holding open the doors, smile at a each other or a new guest to the school, they are living this scripture and becoming the hands and feet of Christ. We are so proud of our MCS children as we see these kinds of acts on a daily basis! Each and every the children are seen acting in these most welcoming of ways, they are Going and Lighting Our World! As a school community, we are so proud!
Keep up the GREAT work MCS!

Evidence of Learning & 3-Way Conferences
In your child's Evidence of Learning Portfolio, you will find up to 10 pieces of your child's work. On each of these pieces, you will notice the outcome/goal/target that your child is aiming for, and feedback about its achievement.
The Evidence of Learning Portfolio is a powerful tool to facilitate conversations about your child’s learning progress. Please review them with your child and bring them to your child's booked 3-Way Conference between you, your child and your child's teacher(s) on November 1 or 2.
Book Your 3-Way Conference Today!
An email was sent home to book your 3-Way Conference. School Interviews is now open for you to book your 3-Way Conference with your child's teacher for either November 1st or 2nd. Please book an appointment using this link https://schoolinterviews.ca/code/qjx46
Your donations are appreciated!
Blessings and thank you for your donations so far! They are being loved big by kids and staff already! The sidewalk chalk, safety vests, GOTCHA Glowing prizes, sports equipment...thank you! We receive your gifts with absolute gratitude!
Throughout the year we will invite our community to donate materials and equipment that are in need at Madonna Catholic School. Your support and help is always so appreciated!
Single Use Forks, Spoons & Cups
While it is always encouraged that students bring their own forks and spoons for lunch, as well as their own water bottles, occasionally they are forgotten. It is appreciated to have a collection of these items for those occasions. We appreciate donations of wooden or biodegradable single use spoons and forks as well as paper cups. Thank you for bringing them to the office, or having your child deliver them for you.
GOTCHA Prizes
We are in need of GOTCHA prizes for children and for staff (yes, staff can get them too!). What kinds of prizes are great prizes? If your child gets excited about something, chances are other kiddos at school will too! Things like Squishmellos, colouring books, minecraft toys etc are great ideas. Those are great prizes! Any kind of self care products, or special treats for staff are great prizes for their prizes. Thank you in advance for donating GOTCHA prizes!
Sports Equipment
We and the kids are always looking for great toys to play with at recess, and a hot item for kids are the balls - soccer balls, basketballs, footballs....regular sizes ones and the mini sized ones.
Thank you in advance for ALL of your support!!!
Celebrating Halloween @ MCS
Parents are invited to come and cheer on our staff and students. You're welcome to wear your costume too!
There will be music and every class will have an opportunity to "Bust a Move" in their costumes!
A variety of activities will occur throughout the day in each individual classroom.
Should a costume include a mask, thank you for reminding your child that masks will be removed during learning times.

Cold & Flu Season - You Can Help!
Avoid spreading the illness. It's encouraged that your child stays home when they are sick.
Alberta Health Services suggests that if you have a flu or cold to stay away from others to avoid spreading the disease.
You are always welcome to connect with your child's teacher to help catch up on what learning has been missed. A great go-to at home to keep up on learning is to read with your child and practice adding, subtracting, and re-grouping.
