Math Outside and Basketball Math?!
By: Audrey, Veronica, and Taylor
This week in math was super fun! In math we did post-it shots. Do you know what that is? It is when Mrs. Adams asks you a math question and if you get the question right, then you crumble up a post-it, and try to shoot it in the cup. When math is over, we count up all of our post-it’s and see how many baskets we got.
Another thing we did, was we went outside, and did task cards. We would go around to tables and try to solve each question. After we solve each question, we go to the bottom of the stack where you find the key page, where the answer is and then you can see if you got the answer right or wrong. If we get it right, we go to the next table and solve that question. If you get it wrong, you go to Mrs.Adams and ask her to explain the answer. In math this week math was very fun!
Morning Meeting With Chickens!
By: Alex, London, & Nate
We had a very special morning meeting. Hint: it has to do with a farm animal that lays eggs, and has a dance named after it. Answer: the Chicken!
When the students of EH school came to class Monday, they were surprised that there was an all-school morning meeting in the APR. When we walked into the APR, we were even more surprised than ever. The students saw chickens on the stage! Then student council announced that we would be playing a game called pass the chicken. It’s kind of like hot potato. Music would be played and you would pass the chicken around the circle. If you had the chicken in your hands when the music stopped, you would have to do the chicken dance with a few other people that got stuck with the chicken.
At the final pass everybody could get up and do the chicken dance together!
Social Studies Projects
By Trent and Nicholas
This week was awesome. In Social Studies we finished our “Me on the Map” projects. We made Me on the Map by listing places where we live. These places are our town, county, state, country, and continent. We wrote facts about each place. Then we decorated around it.
After we finished it we moved on to learning about landforms. We learned about 8 main landforms. Plains, plateaus, mountains, valleys, islands, lakes, rivers, and peninsulas. We colored each landform and will be learning more about them next week. Social Studies is awesome!!!!!!!
Writing Opinion Speeches
By Marissa and Owen
Have you ever tried to persuade someone to do something??? Right now in 3A, we are doing exactly THAT. First, we listened to Severn Suzuki’s persuasive speech. You may remember her. She gave a speech in front of the United Nations about taking care of our environment. As we listened, we wrote down the things we liked about her speech on a post-it.
Next, we tried to add some of those ideas into our writing to make it more persuasive. We also tried to tweak our beginnings and endings, trying to tell our readers to take action. We made the final touches by reading it to a partner or Mrs. Adams and taking their opinion on our writing and trying to make it better. Some people are starting their final copies! This week was so fun especially writing!!
