Tobacco causes cancer because of the harmful carcinogens in cigarettes and chewing tobacco. These cancers include Lungs, Mouth, Heart, Throat, Esophagus, and Gum. There are over 19 carcinogens in tobacco.

Addiction

After you try tobacco, you might never stop. It contains a harmful, addictive substance called nicotine which will keep you hooked forever.

When you smoke, you poison yourself!

Cigarettes include harmful poisons such as Acetone, Ammonia, Arsenic, Butane, Carbon Monoxide, Cadmium, Cresol, Cyanide, DDT, Lead, Formaldehyde, Polonium, and Vinyl Chloride. Some of these substances are radioactive, used in nail polish remover, used in lighter fluid, used in rat poison, and other dangerous materials.

Tobacco led to about 12 million deaths between 1964 and 2004. There were 4.1 million from cancer, 5.5 million from cardiovascular disease, and 1.1 million from respiratory problems.

How Smoking Can Effect Infants!

From 1964-2004, over 94,000 infants died from their mothers smoking or using other tobacco products while pregnant. A suspected 900 infants die each year from secondhand smoke.

You not only hurt yourself!

About 42,000 people die from secondhand smoke a year. They might never smoke a cigarette or chew tobacco, yet they have to suffer the painful consequences.

Smoking causes circulation to decrease and plaque to build up in your arteries, which can lead to heart attacks, high blood pressure, strokes, and death.

Your Mouth!

Tobacco makes your mouth so disgusting. With Leukoplakia, you have leathery-white patches on the gums and precancerous sores all over the mouth. Your teeth will also be affected. They might rot, fall, turn brown, or get very soft. You will probably also have bad breath.

Your Lungs!

Tobacco can cause Emphysema and Bronchitis, which can help to hurt your lungs over a period of time, and may result in death. You will have trouble breathing, and therefore have to quit some athletic activities.

The average pack of cigarettes costs more than $8.00. The average smoker smokes a pack a day. Three hundred sixty five packs would costs $2,920. That would be nearly $3,000 a year wasted on killing yourself.
