The 8th grade students enrolled in Computer Applications continued with their goal setting along with choosing strategies to help them reach their goals. This is a year long process, increasing 3 wpm each month. For March our benchmark goal is 34 wpm with 90% accuracy for the month.
7th and 8th grade Computer Applications stepped up their video productions and became experts with making trailers this week. They completed their trailers Tuesday, did peer revisions and edits Wednesday, and processed and exported them to a shared folder on Thursday. Next week they will be shared with the rest of the school as we move on to making video movies for our next project.
7th and 8th grade "wheel" reviewed computer storage and storage capacity along with practicing their keyboarding as well.
6th grade students participated in many activities while completing a Computer Storage and Storage Capacity unit this week. They were assessed on Thursday. We ended the week with an "Hour of Code" activity. (see description below) Next week the 6th graders will learn about Computer Shortcuts, along with continuing with their keyboarding practice.
All computer students will participate in an "Hour of Code", which is a STEM activity.

Woodwinds and Brass are $8.00 and Percussion is $15.00. Please make sure you do this as soon as possible so your student can practice at home. We are very proud of all of the students that performed solos and ensembles who performed at music fest. Keep up the great work!
8th Grade Band has been working on our contest music for Central Methodist University Music Festival on Friday March 4 and all of our work paid off. The band took home a one rating, the best a band can receive. I am very excited that the students have come back ready to work, and our ensemble sound is rockin'! Make sure that your students are practicing their solo music and band music at home. Thank you so much for the continued support of your student, I am extremely proud of their progress and I cannot wait to work with them for the rest of the year!

Harmony Hornets are at it in full force incorporating our many new members this semester. Due to various factors, we will be unable to travel to Columbia for the music festival at Battle High School on March 11th. Dr. Moebes and Miss Lehman know this is disappointing news but we are so very proud of their hard work and can't wait to see it on display in May at their final concert.
If you ever have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to contact me at llehman@fulton58.org.
Hornet Pride Choir (7th grade) has completed our first music competition! It was a great experience for each of us! Please join us for our concert on Tuesday, March 8th. Hornet Pride members are required to be in the choir room at 5:45pm for our group warm up. The concert will begin at 6pm in the Gym. The choir will sing the competition pieces. We will also feature the two soloists who competed at Fayette.
Arts Alive has begun a new rotation! 6th grade Arts Alive students are studying about Bach, Handel, and Mozart. We are also preparing for a memorization test covering our National Anthem. 7th and 8th grade Arts Alive classes have begun studying the history and evolution of Rock and Roll. We have been discussing the development of the electric guitar. Looking forward, we will do a survey of popular music genres and the bands/artists that are most noteworthy.
Please feel free to contact me any time! bmoebes@fulton58.org.
