Resources for students facing food and/or housing insecurity
Below is a list of campus, city and state resources for students. Feel free to add to this list (also housed on canvas) and include in college seminars.
Food and Housing:
Students expressing housing or food insecurity might be eligible for housing vouchers, food stamps, health care coverage, child care and/or energy assistance through their state of residency.
- The CARE Team provides helpful links to food resources on and off campus which includes the Cherry Pantry. https://careteam.temple.edu/food-resources-0
- Compass- a one-stop resource for Pennsylvania residents to determine benefits eligibility.

- Delaware Assist- An online screening resource similar to Compass where Delaware residents can determine eligibility for a range of benefits.

- NJOneApp- An online screening and application tool for New Jersey state benefits.

- (Be advised, some of these websites have specific browser requirements. Internet Explorer seems to work best.)
- The Office of Homeless Services- Students between the age of 18-24 can refer to Youth Access Points for guidance and referrals to housing and services. Otherwise, any student experiencing homelessness can refer to this organization for support. http://philadelphiaofficeofhomelessservices.org/services/youth-initiative/
- Benefits Trust- A nonprofit that provides personalized support for those in need. https://bdtrust.org/
Technology resources on and off campus:
- Temple has a recycling program where decommissioned technology is sold at a deep discount. Inventory is limited but available items can be found at the following link. https://atlas.ocis.temple.edu/crc_dev/new/webstore/
- Students are eligible for educational discounts on major brand computers and can use through the following link for deep discounts on newer technology. https://its.temple.edu/educational-discounts-computer-equipment-and-software
- For students who are unable to purchase a computer, the Tech Center loans out laptops in three hour increments. https://its.temple.edu/tech-center-equipment-loans
- Comcast offers reduced rates for internet services for anyone demonstrating financial need, pending verification. https://www.internetessentials.com/
Emergency Funding:
- The FAST fund administered through TAUP offers ad-hoc funding for Temple students with pressing financial emergencies. It is one of the few financial resources that can be distributed to students who have an outstanding tuition balance. https://taup.org/fast-fund/
- The CARE Team offers emergency student aid for housing, books, food, etc. http://deanofstudents.temple.edu/emergency-student-aid-fund.
