Garden Hoe Down
Our Garden "Hoe Down" will be Saturday, November 16, 9-11:00 a.m. Everyone welcome, but we are especially inviting families that helped us care for the garden this summer/fall. We'll be cleaning up, making herb bouquets for our special guests and enjoying some well earned refreshments.
We're calling this work party a "Hoe Down" as we will be putting the "hoe" down to the ground when we clean up the garden. It is a celebration for sure! But this "Hoe Down" is not to be confused with a dance, although you're free to do that as well!!!
Special invitations are being sent to families that helped care for our garden over the summer/fall. But everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
This will most likely be our last work party of the calendar year. Please make this family-friendly event a success!
Thanks to all the Superheroes!
Photos from the photo booth will go home with students before we break for Thanksgiving.

Lost and Found at Conferences
Thank you for taking the time to go through the lost and found.
Candy Needed for Winter Holiday Family Party
Do you have leftover Halloween candy that would look good on a gingerbread house, such as skittles, M&M's, candy corn, Twizzlers, and other assorted colorful candy? Donate them to our Winter Holiday Party and save your students' teeth and your sanity! We also appreciate new winter holiday colored/themed candy. We will collect them in the office every day until the party. More information on the Winter Holiday Party in an upcoming Bits.
Picture Retake Day November 21st
If we did not see you on picture day or you would like a new image, Dorian Studio will be taking pictures on 11/21/2019. Do not miss out on ordering pictures of your student.
Pre-orders for picture packages may be placed online at ios.mydorian.com using Tualatin Elementary's access key, 9DT449R8. Online pre-orders using your school's access key are available up to 4 days after retake day. After the 4-day grace period, parents can call the customer advocate department at (800) 826-3535 to place an order.
For order accuracy, please return your completed envelope on picture day for all payment types. Students who have not had their pictures taken may do so on this date. Picture envelopes are available in the office.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
We are looking forward to seeing all our families at Parent/Teacher Conferences in a few weeks. Conferences will be held on November 25th and 26th. If you have not scheduled your appointment yet, please find the sign up links here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aC4Qx6fFeyvsGVam40shkMtdJB_LUtW2ytBP8eRdtoA/edit?usp=sharing
Parent involvement is critical for your child’s success, learning, attitudes about school and aspirations. Parents, students and teachers must all work together to make an unbeatable team of support for every child. Conferences serve as an important time to continue building strong home-school connections. We look forward to seeing you all during conference week.
Some suggestions that may help for a successful conference:
Before the Conference
- Write down any questions you want to discuss.
- Ask your child how they feel about school and if there are any concerns or questions you should discuss with the teacher.
- Consider sharing an important event that may affect your child’s performance. Be sure to let the teacher know important life changes at home as necessary.
On Conference Day
- Arrive on time and stay only for the amount of time scheduled for your appointment. If important questions have not been discussed, ask for a future appointment or phone call.
- Make notes about the discussion during the conference.
- Ask questions about the information you get from the teacher. What does it mean?
- Introduce yourself to the music and P.E. teachers, our counselor, TAG teacher and the principal. There are also many support staff that would like to get a chance to say hello. It’s an excellent time to learn about the programs planned for this year and your child’s progress.
