This week at the pool...

KMSC news for 6/18 - 6/24

Sign Up TODAY for Ladies Night!

We need at least 15 members and their guests to be signed up for Ladies Night by the end of TODAY for that event to be a "go" for Tuesday, June 20, from 7-10 p.m.

This is your chance to get away from it all for a few hours of quiet time at the pool! The pool will close to non-party goers at 8:45 p.m.

To RSVP, contact Sherri Spritzer at

Bring a salad, appetizer, or dessert to share Tuesday. Soft drinks will be provided, but you will need to bring your own wine or beer.

Cost: $5 for KMSC members, $7 for their non-member guests. No free coupons will be accepted

Coming Up Next!

Celebrate Father’s Day at the pool SUNDAY (June 18th).

The gas grill (non-kosher) will be hot from 3-7 p.m., and we’ll be selling ice cream treats (kosher and non-kosher) while they last.

BTW, that's Dave Merkin and little Michael enjoying the baby pool last week in our photo.

Our first Pizza Night at the Pool is next Sunday, June 25, 5-7 p.m. during rafting!

To help with picking up the pizzas at Ben Yehuda's or with selling them poolside, use this Sign-up Genius to volunteer.

Your pool board's next meeting is Thursday, June 22, 7:30 p.m., poolside. Please plan on attending to let them know how things are going!

A Message From Our President

Greetings all,

I've been asked by our lifeguard staff to remind members that there is no running on the pool deck. They have had to issue multiple warnings, included repeated warnings to the same offenders.

The no-running rule is in place as a safety measure; falls on the deck are a leading source of pool injuries. Injuries can include not only scraped knees and palms, but also broken bones. A runner can injure not only him/herself, but also others if they get knocked over. As I know from personal experience, a summer wearing a cast is no fun! A misery of hot and itchy.

Parents, please remind your children that they are not to run on the pool deck, not only for their own safety but for that of others as well. Please also remind them that per the discipline policy included with the parental consent form, repeated offenses of the no-running or other safety rules will lead to consequences, up to and including no longer being allowed at the pool without a parent or guardian present.

A list of our operating rules is available on our website: If you have questions about an operating rule, please ask the manager on duty or send an inquiry to the Board

Your Help Needed

Our Open House was very well attended -- 40 families visited and we signed at least two of them as members.

But to get the word out about pool news more widely, we need your help posting messages to local listservs.

We're looking for help with forwarding messages occasionally to the Arcola E.S., Kemp Mill E.S., Kennedy H.S., Lee M.S., Northwood H.S., St. Andrew, yeshiva and synagogue listservs, and to the KMCA/Kemp Mill Estates, Kemp Mill Forest, Layhill South, Tivoli, Winding Waye neighborhood listservs, and any other area neighborhoods or groups with listservs that could benefit from hearing from us.

If you can help, please contact

Send Us Your Pool Photos!

Help us showcase your fun at our pool. Please post photos of you and your family at the pool on our Facebook page or email them to and we'll showcase them there. This photo of three of the swim team's Nightcrawlers is from Amie Wohlfarth.
