Eagle Updates

Dear Parents,

There were many highlights this week at Voss including our "Future Ready" SOAR Day that had over 20 presenters with diverse careers, interests, and passions,. We are so lucky to have such an engaged community that gives up their time and knowledge to help our students propel into the future. Below are some great pictures and descriptions of various sessions.

Last week we shared with you that Boerne ISD was recently named an HEB Excellence in Education Finalist for best small school district in Texas. On Friday, a group of 6 judges with a vast array of educational experiences visited Voss and were led on a tour by three outstanding students; Lorelei Voegler, Dylan Delgado, and Noah Patton. Lorelei, Dylan, and Noah took the judges to many classrooms and shared their experiences this year at Voss. As the judges walked around campus, they saw happy and connected students, teachers and staff who led creative and innovative lessons, and most importantly, got an opportunity to feel the positive energy that permeates through Voss daily. Regardless of the outcome of this award (State winners are announced in May), we know we are already #1 for our students.

Our course information night was held this week and our counselors shared information about course cards, new requirements, electives, and more. Below in the files section of this newsletter is the powerpoint that was shared as well as the questions that were asked in the meeting. If you have any additional questions, please email our counselors.

INTERIM TESTING FEB 3-4 We will have interim testing next week for Reading and Math and will be on an adjusted schedule. Interim testing is a benchmark assessment that will give our teachers data that will help guide each student's specific instruction moving forward this school year. Among our many goals is for our students to move up from their previous STAAR rating - Approaches to Meets, Meets to Masters, and those students who earned Masters to maintain the score. Interim testing data will inform instruction as it breaks down every state standard in the subject area and allows us to see high percentage of incorrect answers. The test will be taken in your child's study hall class.

Below is our week and month ahead as well as additional updates and reminders.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Soar Eagles, Soar!

Beto Hinojosa, Ed. D.
