Re-enrollment Information
Online student re-enrollment for the 2018-2019 academic year opened May 4 at 9 a.m. through Registration Gateway to currently enrolled Pre-K through 11th graders for the 2018/19 school year.
If you recently registered your child in April at the kindergarten screening for the 2018/19 school year, re-enrollment is not necessary since your child is already registered for the next school year.
Please note that you should have received an email regarding student re-enrollment. This email is student specific, which means parents with multiple children will receive an email for each child with account information and re-enrollment instructions. If you did not receive an email, please contact our front office.

SIC Nomination Form
The Orchard Park School Improvement Council is focused on school improvement. SIC members have been actively engaged in developing and implementing improvement goals for our school. The OPES SIC this year operated by three themes that guided our conversations and planning for school improvement. The themes are: Community Relations, Student Enrichment Opportunities, & Parent Involvement
Please complete this form if you are willing to have your name on the ballot or would like to nominate an individual to be considered for election to the School Improvement Council next school year. A ballot will be sent home at a later date for the actual election.
Battle of the Books
Registration for 2018-2019 Battle of the Books teams is now open! Rising 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are invited to participate in this exciting literacy-based club. Information on Battle of the Books and how to register can be found here. Please email Audrey Goninan at goninana@fortmillschools.org if you have any questions.
Donations Needed
We are collecting paper towel rolls and shoe boxes for a STEAM unit that we will be doing in 4th grade music soon. We will need lots of paper towel rolls and shoe boxes that are small enough for rubber bands to stretch across, so any donations of these items would be greatly appreciated!
Field Day
Field Day 2018 is coming up soon and we need as much help as possible!
- Field Day will be two days this year. Monday, May 21st for grades K-2, and Tuesday, May 22nd for grades 3-5. Field day will run from 8:00-2:00. Lunch will be on your own from 11:15-12:15.
- We could use your help on one or both days if you are available! Volunteers may be parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. as long as they are on the approved district list. If you are not on the district list, you may get an application from the front office.
- Siblings or younger children may not attend field day with volunteers. If you have younger children at home, you will need to leave them at home with a sitter or friend for that day.
- Please click this link to sign up if you will be able to assist during Field Day.
News from the PTO
As another school year quickly comes to a close, we should take a moment to reflect on the many ways we have worked together to make our school great and our students successful. Our first major accomplishment of the year was Boosterthon in October. Together, we raised over $35,000! These funds were then spent in various ways throughout the year in the form of Teacher Grants & Supplies for the Classroom, the Administration's School Literacy Initiative, Teacher Luncheons, Teacher Appreciation Week, funding for OPES Clubs such as Vex Robotics, Chess Club, Safety Patrol and Watchdogs. We also used those funds towards Related Arts Supplies, School Beautification, One School One Book, Family Fun Nights and the upcoming 5th grade Graduation Ceremony.
It wasn't just about the funds raised, however. In August, we kicked off the school year by meeting the wonderful teachers and staff. September boasted Family Recess Night. The students ran their hearts out and had a great time doing it in October for the Boosterthon Fun Run. We designed the day away when Nailed IT DIY Studio opened their doors inNovember in support of OPES Spirit Day! Soarin' Sounds gave a wonderful performance in December for all in attendance. In January, we read Nim's Island and enjoyed an activity-filled evening for One School One Book. We boogied the night away with our children at the Winter Wonderland dance in February. In March, we banded together to get the Fort Mill School District Bond Referendum passed. Our Spring Book fair ended with a Family Movie Night screening of Wonder and Charlotte-based Food Trucks in April. Finally, in May, we will wrap up the year with the Kindergarten Open House for our rising class of 2031, while simultaneously celebrating our 5th graders as they graduate to middle school. I can't think of a better way to end the year then honoring what is to come for all of these amazing students.
Of course, all of this would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of your PTO, Committee Chairs and the many parent volunteers we have had throughout this journey. We believe that everyone should be allowed an opportunity to experience the joys of PTO and for that reason, our current PTO will not be running for next year's positions. We hope you will take a moment to consider the roles you can play or continue to play at Orchard Park next year, whether that be a volunteer, Committee Chair or PTO representative. If you are interested, please click the "About" tab on the PTO website and click "PTO." There you will find a list of descriptions pertaining to each role and a contact email.
Thank you for all you have done and continue to do in support of Orchard Park Elementary School. We hope you enjoyed this year as much as we did!
