Trimester 3:
Trimester 3 starts Monday, May 18th. The curriculum will be moving forward using the power standards that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has directed districts to focus on for the remainder of the year. Engaging in the lessons in the weeks ahead is essential for your children because the lessons teach important skills, promote healthy study habits, and prepare students for the next school year.
Students can view their schedules on Aspen to see what special they are taking Trimester 3. All students are expected to complete work for their Trimester 3 specials to the best of their ability. Teachers will be communicating with students to introduce themselves and welcome them to their courses. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teachers if they need any help, particularly as they transition to these new courses.
Students should look in Aspen to see what Related Art class they have for trimester 3.
Grading Trimester 3:
Students will be given a P for Participation or an NP for No Participation during Remote Learning in Trimester 3. Participation includes attending Google Hangouts, turning in assignments for each class, and/or attending teacher office hours for extra help on assignments.
I am including the prerequisite standard by the Department of Education guidelines. Teachers and district leaders are reviewing what has been taught this year and developing which standards will be introduced. This will be the focus for the remainder of the school year.
While Walsh has had a good amount of student participation we understand the demands at home have contributed to some students not having the means to participate in remote activities. It is important that we hear from every student as much as possible every week either by work submission, email, or participation in a virtual class.
Student Norms for Video Conferencing
The weekly remote learning calendar will be available by 8:00 AM on Monday. There is a link on the Walsh webpage under announcements to make it easier for students to find. In addition to the calendar, students can also continue to use the provided enrichment activities above.
Teachers and support staff have and will continue to reach out to all students during these weeks we are away from Walsh. The Walsh school directory with faculty email addresses and links to the Canvas and Summit pages. If you need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to any staff member that you believe can help you.
If you need a Chromebook for your student please email me or if the student is in elementary school please send that request to their principal.
We hope that your family is well and please remember if there is anything you need please reach out to any Walsh staff member.

Student News
Report Cards for Trimester 2 will be available for viewing Friday in Aspen.
Trimester 3 starts on Monday. Please be sure to check your schedule in Aspen to see which Related Arts class you have this trimester.
All classes are introducing new parts of the curriculum. It is important that to the best of your ability you attend virtual classes, check your platform, complete work, and reach out to your teachers.
Due to the current situation, progress on the Summit continuum was interrupted when we left school in mid-March. Because of this interruption, you may not have the opportunity to complete the remaining projects in their classes. The focus going forward will be the standards that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has deemed essential for success next year.
Without the chance to improve cognitive skills in upcoming projects, the current grade in Summit may not accurately represent the work that you are doing and would have completed. Current averages can be found on the Summit platform. For this reason, we will be using Aspen instead of issuing progress reports for Trimester 2, and students will receive a Pass/Fail grade.
Please review the district calendar each week and contact your teacher regarding focus areas for that specific class.
