Monday

The children used the iPads today during our time in the wonder lounge. They used a fun app called Touch Write, where they practiced letter formation. The students enjoyed being able to work any where in the wonder lounge, on a beanbag chair, the couch, a wiggly stool or at a table!

Tuesday

This week we are learning the Yellow song and how to spell the word yellow. Also we are learning the poem Jack and Jill. The children are reading these poems to reinforce the concepts of rhyming words, directionality of print and concept of word. Green is next weeks color.

Wednesday

We have been working with patterns this week during math time. The children are learning to create their own patterns and to observe and discover patterns all around them. Your child is welcome to bring in an example of a pattern from home to share during morning meeting. They can be sent in any time next week.

Friday

This week during writing time, the children wrote about the month of September. Our topic for this month was what is your favorite thing about kindergarten so far? Students wrote about PE, recess, art, math and free choice time. They are practicing listening to sounds in words and labeling what they hear. They are also learning to draw realistic pictures, remembering to add color and detail to them. Our September writing is hanging in the hall for all to enjoy!
