Hello Parents!
Teacher Spotlight!
From my earliest recollection, I would line my Barbie, Thumbalina, and Susy Smart dolls up at the foot of my bed and take attendance. Next, I’d teach them their A, B, Cs. I knew someday I was going to be a teacher.
My life took many turns and I worked a number of jobs, but in each of those positions, I was always teaching others. I trained order fillers in a factory. As an oral surgeon’s assistant, it was my responsibility to train new assistants. That desire to teach, was always in the back of my mind.
I finally had the opportunity to go to IUPUI and earn my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Since graduating, I’ve worked for Indianapolis Public Schools as a 4th and 5th grade teacher and in Avon Community Schools as a teacher’s assistant. Although I enjoyed the year at Avon, I knew I wanted to have my own classroom again.
Mrs. Ostler had been my mentor teacher when I first started teaching. I learned that she was opening a new charter school on the Southeast side of Indianapolis, and I wanted to be a part of this new venture. I love teaching, and I love Mathematics, so when I learned that there was an opening at Invent Learning Hub for an Intermediate Math teacher, I enthusiastically applied. I count it an honor to be a part of the ILH team!
Thank you,
Mrs. Jennie Bick
